Sectors Where Career Scopes are Available for B Tech ECE Graduates

In this section, we will try to focus on those employment sectors which offers plenty of career scopes to the B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering graduates -

  • Core Sector - Core sector comprises of those companies which directly deals in the fields of electronics and communication. The core sector also includes those companies which help those companies dealing directly in the field of electronics and communication achieve their tasks. A few examples of such core sector companies are TATA Electric, Exide Industries, Neolex Cables, Havells, Bajaj Electricals, Reliance, BSNL etc. Such companies employ electronics and communication engineers. However, the core sector is very competitive due to fewer opportunities and sometimes the candidates have to accept the fact and work for less reputed core sector companies.

  • Non-Core Sector - The non-core sector comprises of those companies which directly does not deal in the field of electronics and communication. These companies are basically software companies where a B.Tech ECE graduate can easily get into provided he/she has a working knowledge of programming languages like C or C++ etc and have exceptional communication skill. Getting a job in the non-core sector is not as tough as it is in the core sector. A few examples of non-core sector companies are HCL, Infosys, Accenture, TCS, Wipro etc. Along with the ease of getting a job, these non-core sector jobs come with handsome and attractive salary packages along with good hikes.

  • Government Sector - One of the best options for B.Tech ECE graduates is to apply for a government job. Although many companies recruit B.Tech candidates on the basis of their GATE scores, there are some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), like ONGC, BHEL, MTNL, BSNL etc, where no such requirement has to be fulfilled. It is also not impossible for B.Tech ECE graduates to apply for graduate-level national qualifying exams like UPSC CDSE , SSC CGL etc and get into defence, banks, railway etc.

  • Startups - We are living in an age of startups. Those B.Tech ECE graduates with in-depth knowledge about the subjects can open a startup given the fact that there is less competition in the electronics and communication industry compared to others. Choosing the right technology, a solid business plan conceptualization and hard work is all that is required. Not such an easy thing though!
