COMEDK 2026 CSE Cutoffs

Soon after the COMEDK UG 2026 results are announced, state-wide counselling for engineering college admissions will start. While most of you would be aiming for the top ranks, the real fight would be to secure a CSE spot with average or low ranks, especially in good colleges in Bangalore.

Every year, we see a surge in demand for the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) branch. For CSE core, a rank above 15,000 is usually considered below average. At this rank, almost all the seats in the top Bangalore colleges, like RVCE, MSRIT, and BMSCE are filled, so you might have to look at tier-3 colleges outside of the city, in Tumkur, Mangalore, or Mysore. COMEDK low ranks for CSE typically range beyond 30,000, where you are only left with less popular or newer private colleges that too if seats are vacant in the remaining rounds.

This article explains COMEDK 2026 CSE predicted cutoffs and Bangalore colleges available at lower ranks.

Can I get CSE in a Top Bangalore College with a 20,000 rank?

With 20,000 rank in COMEDK, you cannot expect a competitive branch such as B.Tech CSE in MSRIT, BMSCE, or RVCE. However, you still stand as a strong contender in other reputed institutes, like CMRIT, New Horizon College of Engineering, or JSS Academy of Technical Education. Just one advice - stop chasing CSE core and explore specialized branches, like Data Science or Cybersecurity . In 2025, CSE specialized branches closed 2,000-3,000 ranks later than CSE core, offering gateway to several premier institutes with lower cutoffs.

Quick Strategy for 20,000+ Rankers

For all CSE aspirants, here are a few strategic moves to secure a seat with COMEDK 2026 low ranks (below 20,000):

  • Don’t just stick to CSE. Consider opting for Information Science & Engineering (ISE), as the course is almost identical to Computer Science & Engineering and offers very good placements. While many colleges close admission in CSE at 18,000 rank, ISE cutoffs usually go up to 22,000.

  • Be ready to compromise on the location. Securing a CSE core seat in National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, or SIT Tumkur, is often better for placements than getting a CSE seat in a newly established college in Bangalore.

  • At 20,000+ rank, always enter specialized branches, like Data Science or AI & Machine Learning at CMRIT or DSATM as your preferred choices below CSE core. This puts you in a better position to secure a seat.

To sum it up, CSE admission is possible with low ranks, say, 15,000-30,000, but not necessarily in the top Bangalore colleges. Depending on your merit rank, you might have to adjust your course option (CSE core/ CSE specialization), trade off your location, or opt for lesser/ newer colleges. One good thing is that even within the 15k-40k rank range, CSE placements in these colleges are fairly uniform, with average packages starting at INR 5-7 LPA. So, make an informed decision after reviewing the recent cutoff trends, college infrastructure, and distance from the main city.

EEE at LPU is considered a decent option for students looking for both core electrical knowledge and exposure to industry-based learning. The curriculum includes practical labs, projects, and training related to automation, power systems, and emerging technologies. Placement opportunities are available in both core and non-core sectors, though outcomes usually depend on skills, internships, and academic performance. Many students also prepare for government exams or higher studies alongside placements because EEE is a broad field with multiple career paths.
