How is CEED Final Score Calculated?

CEED Final Score is calculated by calculating the marks of both Part A and Part B. If you are planning to appear for the CEED 2026 exam, then you must be aware of the formula to calculate the final marks. You can calculate your CEED 2026 exam final score easily by understanding the two-part structure (Part A & Part B) and the official weighting formula. Part A includes computer-based objective test out of 150 marks and CEED awards 25% weight for the same. On the other hand, CEED awards 75% weight to Part B which is conducted as a pen-and-paper subjective test out of 100 marks. CEED Final Score 2026 will be calculated by adding the percentage of both Part A and Part B and the final ranking is announced accordingly.

CEED Exam Structure: Part A and Part B

To know about the final marks calculation, it is important for the students to know about the CEED Exam Structure. As mentioned above, we will try to understand both parts of CEED Exam 2026. CEED has two distinct parts, each contributing differently to your final score:

Part A (Design Aptitude Test)

• Exam Mode: Computer-based (online)
• Total Allotted marks: 150
• Duration of the exam: 60 minutes
• Question types: MCQ (Multiple Choice), MSQ (Multiple Select), NAT (Numerical Answer Type)
• Total questions: 44 Questions divided into three sections with varying marks per question

Part B (Sketching & Design Test)

• Mode: Offline (Pen-and-paper)
• Total marks: 100
• Duration: 120 minutes
• Question types: 5 subjective questions to test your efficiency and knowledge about visualisation, creativity, sketching and problem-solving

Students must note that those who clear the Part A cutoff only qualifies for Part B evaluation. However, the final All India Rank comes from combining both parts using the official weightage.​

CEED Calculation of Marks: Part A

Part A follows a sectioned marking scheme with negative marking to discourage random guessing. Here’s the breakdown you can use to self-score using the official answer key:​

CEED Calculation of Marks: Part B

Part B is subjective in nature and is conducted in pen and paper mode and students are marked based on what they write. Students are marked completely based on their merit. Partial Marking is always a possibility, and students are evaluated on the basis of below mentioned criteria. One can also look at the marks distribution as per the table given below. evaluated by multiple examiners on criteria like:

• Visual Sense (composition, aesthetics) – 20%
• Drawing/Sketching skills (line quality, proportions) – 20%
• Logic & Creativity – 20%
• Design aptitude (problem understanding, originality) – 20%
• Form Sensitivity: – 20%

​CEED Final Score Formula

Once marks for both the parts are available, then IIT Bombay calculates the final score by using the formula as mentioned below:​

Final Score = (0.25 × Normalised Part A marks) + (0.75 × Normalised Part B marks)

• Normalisation: Ensures fairness across sessions/shifts by adjusting for minor difficulty variations.
• Used for: All India Rank (AIR) and admission shortlisting

Example:

• Part A raw score: 73/100 → Normalised: 75
• Part B score: 65/100
  Final score = (0.25 × 75) + (0.75 × 65) = 18.75 + 48.75 = 67.5 / 100

Thus heavy 75% Part B weightage indicates that even if the students have done well in Part A, they still need to give their best in Part B to improve their overall rank. ​

How You Can Estimate Your Own CEED Score 2026

If you want to estimate your own CEED score before the official declaration of the results, then you follow the below mentioned steps post-exam:

1. Download Part A CEED Answer key 2026 from ceed.iitb.ac.in and self-score using the marking scheme explained above.
2. Though it is slightly difficult to calculate the marks obtained in Part B, you can attempt mock evaluations after Part B examination using past examiner feedback or coaching rubrics.
3. Apply the final formula once scores are available.
4. Check your rank predictor tools (post-result) calibrated against previous years.

Regular Part B practice under timed conditions gives the biggest return on effort, given its 75% weight.​
