The UPSC has released the official notification for ISS Exam also the IES exam will not be held this year due to NIL Vacany. This year, over 2 lakh applicants are expected to register for the examinations. 

Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service Examination 2020

The Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) examination are conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The ISS along with IES is the administrative interministerial civil service that falls under Group A of the executive branch of the Central Civil Services, GOI (the Government of India).

UPSC has released an official notification stating that the application form of ISS is out. However, the IES exam will not be held due to the NIL vacancy reported for the Indian Economic Services. The last date to apply for ISS exam is 30th June 2020.

How to Apply for IES/ ISS Exam 2020?

The application or registration process for IES and ISS examination for 2020 will be completed in an online mode. Here are the steps that you need to follow for the application.

  • Visit the official website of UPSC i.e., upsc.gov.in.

  • Look for the online application link on the home page.

  • The first step in the process would be registration. Fill in the registration form using the valid email address and phone number.

  • Now submit the registration form and log into the website to start filling the application form.

  • The application of the exam is completed in two stages so it is important for you to complete both the parts as per the official instructions.

  • After uploading the supporting documents and reviewing the form, proceed to payment.

  • You can pay the application fee in online mode and finally submit it.

Eligibility for IES/ ISS Exam 2020

Mentioned below is the detailed eligibility criteria that you need to meet to apply for UPSC IES and ISS 2020 examination.

Nationality:

  • You must be a citizen of India or Nepal or Bhutan.

  • You must be a Tibetan Refugee who moved to India before 1st January 1962 for permanently settling here.

  • You must be a person of Indian origin migrated from Burma, Pakistan, East African Countries of Kenya, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire, Malawi, Vietnam or Ethiopia with intentions of permanently settling here.

Minimum Age:

The minimum age required is 21 years.

Age Limit:

The upper age limit varies for different categories.

  • 30 years for General Category

  • 35 years for SC and ST categories

  • 33 years for OBC

  • Up to 40 years for candidates who have low vision or blindness/ hard of hearing or deaf/ autistic/ deaf-blindness, etc.

  • Up to 35 years for ex-servicemen including ECOs/ SSCOs/ Commissioned Officers Military Servicemen.

Educational Qualification:

Educational qualifications for IES are mentioned below.

  • You must hold a postgraduate degree in Business Economics or Economics or Econometrics or Applied Economics.

  • The postgraduate degree must have been issued by a university recognised by the state or central legislature.

Educational qualifications for ISS are mentioned below.

  • You must hold a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Statistics or Statistics or Applied Statistics.

OR

  • You must hold a Master’s degree in Mathematical Statistics or Statistics or Applied Statistics from a recognised university.
