Know all About Cut-Off Details & Selection Process at NITIE Mumbai
National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) was earlier known as the National Institute of Training in Industrial Engineering. It was established by the Government of India in 1963 and is one of the oldest and top business schools in India. It is also counted amongst the 15 Centres of Excellence (Designation given by the HRD Ministry, Government of India).
NITIE offers some excellent business programmes and is known for its courses in operations and supply chain management. The two most popular and frequently opted programmes at NITIE are:
- Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Management (PGDISEM)
NITIE has a structured format for shortlisting students for the programmes mentioned above. Admissions to the above-mentioned programmes are done strictly on the basis of CAT exam score. No other exam score is considered for admissions to NITIE. In order to take admissions in these programmes, candidates must secure the minimum cutoff set by the institute.
Following are the CAT cutoffs (percentile) for the programmes mentioned above:
Other popular management programmes offered by the institute are Post Graduate Diploma in Manufacturing Management (PGDMM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management (PGDPM). Admission to these two courses is done on the basis of GATE score.
GATE Cutoff for PGDMM and PGDPM:
NITIE has a two-phase selection criteria. Refer the table given below to understand the selection process of NITIE:
|Programme||Phase 1||Phase 2|
|PGDIM / PGDISEM||In the first round, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their CAT scores. Only the candidates who clear the above-mentioned cutoff for each category will be called for Phase 2||Candidates who will be shortlisted will be called for Personal Interview to evaluate their interpersonal skills|
|PGDMM / PGDPM||Candidates will have to clear GATE cutoff set by the institute in order to be shortlisted in this round||Having cleared the first phase, candidates are called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview|
NITIE also offers Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) and a Fellow Programme. Since PGDIE is a technical diploma, admissions to the programme are done on the basis of GATE score. The selection process and cutoff requirement for PGDIE are similar to that of PGDMM and PGDPM. However, candidates must be aware of the fact that PGDIE is not a management programme.
NITIE is a B-school for engineers, therefore the students at the institute are engineers from different technical disciplines. NITIE offers very good placement opportunities and the highest package goes up to Rs.23.36 lakh per annum whereas the average CTC is Rs.11.83 lakh per annum. Over 100 companies participate in the campus placement of NITIE every year and the maximum number of offers are made by IT organisations and consultancy firms.
