Seat Intake and Reservation for NID DAT

The National Institute of Design (NID) is one of the most prestigious design institutes in the nation. The institute refreshes its reservation policy and seat matrix each year and updates them as per the requirement. In 2019, all the campuses of NID had 100 seats for the B.Des programme. However, in the year 2020, 28 more seats were added. Similarly, for the M.Des programme, the total number of seats increased from 275 to 347. So, as of now, there are a total of 425 seats for B.Des course and 347 seats for M.Des course. Also, up till now, the same seat matrix is being followed. Admission to these undergraduate and postgraduate courses is evaluated by the NID DAT entrance examination.

Apart from these figures, the total seats for overseas candidates also increased for both the aforementioned programmes. Students who belong to the reserved categories such as SC, ST and OBC can get admission through the open category and also in their specific category. To be eligible for admission through reservation, candidates need to mention their category in the application form itself. The reservation criteria for the reserved categories are different from the regular admission criteria.

The reservation seats are offered based on the reservation policy of NID across variable disciplines and categories. Candidates are advised to go through the entire article to create a clear picture of reservation policy and seat intake at NID as it helps them in understanding their chances of getting admission to the institute.  Candidates can check the NID DAT BDes seat intake for the academic year 2024!
