TISSNET vs TISSMAT

Till 2019, aspirants seeking admission to the postgraduate courses at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai had to appear for the TISSNET (TISS National Entrance Test) . From 2020 onwards, the institute has introduced a new exam called TISSMAT (TISS Management Aptitude Test). Being a new management entrance exam in India , TISSMAT is causing some confusion among the students. In this article, we have provided important information about the TISSMAT exam and explained the differences between TISSNET and TISSMAT.

What is TISSMAT?

TISSMAT or TISS-MAT is the new postgraduate management entrance test of Tata Institute of Social Sciences. TISSMAT will be conducted by the institute in addition to TISSNET and will be conducted right after the TISSNET exam. TISSMAT will be a compulsory exam for students who wish to take admission to the following courses offered by TISS Mumbai .

  • MA (HRM&LR) : Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations

  • MA (ODCL): Master of Arts in Organization Development, Change, and Leadership

What this means is that students who are applying to the MA (HRM&LR) / (ODCL) courses at TISS Mumbai will have to first appear for the TISSNET exam and after that, they will have to take the TISSMAT exam. The TISSMAT exam will be conducted right after the TISSNET exam. It should be noted that for all other courses except the MA (HRM&LR) / (ODCL) courses, the college also conducts the TISSPAT examination. TISSPAT is also conducted after the TISSNET examination.

Basically:

Exam for All PG Courses At TISS Exam for PG Management Courses at TISS
TISSNET + TISSPAT TISSNET + TISSMAT

The TISSMAT exam will assess a candidate's ability to understand management-related literature, their business knowledge, and their ability to interpret data related to core management areas such as market, business, economy, etc.
