1. IIT Madras, Chennai
IIT Madras has received the first position in the engineering ranking in NIRF in nine years. BTech is provided in CSE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Chemical, and Biotechnology. The four years' course fee amounts to around ₹9.39 Lakhs for General category students, and SC/ST students whose family income is less than ₹1 LPA do not have to pay the tuition fee. In 2023-24, the batch had an average of 22 LPA and a median of 19.60 LPA, and 256 companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs had attended campus placements. It takes admissions via JEE Advanced and JoSAA counselling.
2. NIT Trichy, Tiruchirappalli
The second-best engineering college in Tamil Nadu is NIT Trichy, which is an Institute of National Importance. It has 10 branches of BTech such as CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, and Chemical Engineering, etc. The approximate course fee is 6.52 to 7 Lakhs in four years, including a complete waiver of the tuition for students whose families have yearly earnings lower than 1LPA. According to the information of NIRF 2025, median BTech package was 14.35 LPA with the maximum package of 64 LPA in CSE. Amazon, Microsoft, DE Shaw and Goldman Sachs are part of the recruiters. The entry mode is through JEE Main with subsequent JoSAA counselling.
3. SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai
SRM is NAAC A++ accredited and is one of the largest private deemed universities in India, based in Kattankulathur, close to Chennai. It has over 15 BTech courses such as CSE, AI and ML, Cyber Security, and Biomedical Engineering. The fee is between 11 Lakhs and 19.1 Lakhs according to the branch you opt for. The average package offered last year was 6.66 LPA, and the highest was 65 LPA in 2025 when 9,000-plus offers were made. Amazon, Deloitte, Ford, EY, and Cognizant are some of the recruiters. It takes admission via SRMJEEE.
4. VIT Vellore
The second ranked private engineering college in Tamil Nadu is VIT Vellore. It has 34 undergraduate courses, including specialisations such as CSE, ECE, Mechanical, AI and Data Science. The total cost of BTech is 6.95 to 7.83 lakhs, depending on the rank category in VITEEE. According to NIRF 2025, the median package of BTech was 8.99 LPA, and a total of more than 14,000 offers were made in 2025. The best recruiters are Microsoft, Amazon, Google, TCS, and Deloitte. Admission is through VITEEE.
5. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a Government-established Institute of Eminence, NAAC A++ accredited, with its main engineering campus located in Coimbatore. BTech is provided in CSE, ECE, Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, as well as AI and Data Science. The four-year total fee is 24.1 Lakhs, which is the highest in this list. It takes admission through the AEEE exam or JEE Main scores. According to NIRF 2025, 1,619 students were allotted a median package of 7.75 LPA. Recruiters are Amazon, Dell, Samsung, Oracle, Nokia, Wipro, etc.
6. Anna University (CEG Campus), Chennai
Anna University's College of Engineering Guindy is the oldest technical institution in Asia and ranks 20th in Engineering in the country in 2025 by NIRF ranking. Branches of Btech are CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, AI and Data Science. Its all-inclusive fee only costs 1.38 Lakhs for four years, the cheapest in this list. The full fee waiver and an annual scholarship amounting to Rs 20,000 are offered to SC/ST students. It is offered by TNEA counselling, which is based on marks in Class 12 and there is no entrance exam. The mean package of the 2022-23 batch was 8.54 LPA with Samsung R&D, Walmart Labs, Bosch, L&T, and TCS among the top recruiters.
7. SASTRA University, Thanjavur.
SASTRA is a NAAC A+ rated private deemed university in Thanjavur, which offers BTech in 19 specialisations such as CSE, ECE, Aerospace, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, etc. The total costs are estimated to be 7 Lakhs over four years. The admission is done on the basis of JEE Main score (70% weightage) and Class 12 marks (30% weightage). According to NIRF 2025, the median BTech package of 1,621 students was 7.6 LPA. Top recruiters are Microsoft, Amazon, PayPal, IBM, and Bosch.
8. Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), Virudhunagar
KARE is a NAAC A+ accredited private deemed university and the first in India to offer a BTech program to serve hearing and speech-impaired students. It provides 19 BTech majors such as CSE, ECE, Aeronautical Engineering, Biotech and AI and ML. The total expenses are 4.58-7.98 Lakhs according to the location of the branch, whereas merit-based scholarships are offered according to JEE Main ranking and Class 12 grades. Admission is made by JEE Main or KUEE. According to NIRF 2025, 1,422 of 1,593 students were placed, recording a 89.3 percentage of placement rate with a median package of 6.75 LPA. 9. SSN College of Engineering, Chennai.
The NAAC A++ accredited SSN College of Engineering in Kalavakkam, Chennai, is under Anna University. It provides BTech in 12 majors such as CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and IT, with admissions being totally through TNEA counselling. The four-year fees will be around 2.20 Lakhs total (55,000 per year) which is one of the cheapest private engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. According to the data of NIRF 2025, the median BTech package in 2024 was 8.60 LPA, with 677 students getting placements and 743 offers being made in 2025. These recruiters are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, TCS, and L&T Technology Services.
10. PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore
PSG College of Technology is an autonomous institution assisted by the government and was started in 1951 in Coimbatore as a part of Anna University. It also has BTech in 21 subjects such as CSE, ECE, IT, Mechanical, Biomedical, and Automobile Engineering. Total tuition fees are around 2.2 Lakhs in four years, which is available under TNEA counselling, depending on Class 12 marks. According to the 2025 placement figures of NIRF, 821 out of 1,114 students were placed with a median value of 7 LPA.
