VITEEE 2018 Exam Analysis

The first slot of VITEEE 2018 exam is over. The VITEEE 2018 exam is an online exam of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration, with multiple choice questions. The examination is being conducted from April 4 to April 15, 2018 in the following three slots per day.

Session I: 09.00 am to 11.30 am

Session II: 12.30 pm to 03.00 pm

Session III: 04.00 pm to 06.30 pm

VITEEE 2017 Exam Analysis

VITEEE 2017 was conducted from April 5 to April 16, 2017 for admission of candidates who wish to pursue B.Tech at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University. A total of 2.23 lakh had registered to appear for th exam last year.

VITEEE is a computer-based exam, which is conducted in three sessions every day - 9 am to 11:30 am, 12: 30 pm to 3 pm and 4 pm to 6:30 pm. The duration of the exam is two and a half hours and it is spread across four sections - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and English. A total of 125 questions are asked in the exam and candidates can score a maximum of 125 marks in the exam, as every correct answer is awarded 1 mark. While Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology had 40 questions each, English had 5 questions. There was no negative marking in the paper.

Overall Difficulty Level

According to most of the students who appeared for the examination, VITEEE was pretty easy in comparison with the JEE Main 2017 offline exam, which was conducted on April 2, 2017. In case of VITEEE, the most important factor was time management. Since students had 150 minutes to answer 125 questions, those who had their concepts clear were able to solve the entire paper in time.

Another feedback that we received from students was some questions were absolutely conceptual while there were some that were based on direct formulas. Basically, VITEEE 2017 turned out to be a test of speed and concepts. Only those students were able to perform well who had practiced a lot for the paper.

How to Prepare for VITEEE 2019

VITEEE is a gateway for candidates to get admission in B.Tech courses offered at the prestigious VIT University. Those who are preparing to take the exam must be thinking of all the things they could probably do to ensure they achieve the best results on the day of the exam.

Trust NCERT Books

You should know that your NCERT text books of Class 11 and Class 12 are all you need to prepare for all the four subjects, based on which you will be evaluated in the exam. About 55% of the VITEEE question paper has questions from Class 11 and 12 syllabus. The reason is that the syllabus of 11th and 12th introduces students to concepts that they would need while pursuing further education. Therefore, the suggestion is not to pick up any new study material at the last minute and trust NCERT books.

No Negative Marking

One of the biggest advantages that you have in VITEEE is that there is no negative marking. You have the liberty to try your luck and attempt as many questions as possible. Therefore, the fear of the deduction in marks on attempting questions and giving wrong answers does not exist as far as VITEEE is concerned. However, you must also keep the time factor in mind while attempting questions that you're not sure about. Do not miss out on the ones you know while guessing answers for others!

Time Management

During exam time, the most important thing to do is to manage your time well. Avoid wasting time on a particular question if you feel that you cannot solve it. Instead of spending more time solving the tough questions, focus on the questions that you know you can solve quickly. However, the first step to judge a question is to read it carefully. Do not start solving questions without reading them completely.

Revisit Short Notes

For all those who believe in the concept of making short notes, this could be the smartest way to revise the entire syllabus at the last minute. Making short notes (in the form of flash cards or micro note) is extremely helpful at the time of revision. Whether you have to revise formulas or revisit a concept, all that you need for revision would be the short notes you had made while preparing for the examination. By constantly checking these notes, you will be able to revise all the topics in your syllabus without having to reach out for the books.

Question Papers/Sample Papers/Mock Tests

Since there is only one week left for the exam, the best thing to do right now is to practice as much as you can. There are so many previous years' questions papers, sample papers and mock tests available online that you can take to become familiar with the exam pattern and the type of questions that are usually asked in this exam. Try to attempt all the questions in the sample papers/mock tests within a fixed time to be able to give your best shot on the exam day.

VITEEE 2019 Cut-off

VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) does not release the official cut-off. However, the data received by the candidates who appeared in the examination in previous years has been used  to determine the expected VITEEE 2019 cut-off.  The cut-off is released to check the eligibility of the candidates for admission in the B.Tech/ B.E. programmes offered at VIT. All the candidates who are willing to take admission into various engineering programmes offered by the University, will have to meet the cut-off. The cut-off for VITEEE 2019 will be declared in the form of opening and closing ranks, post the declaration of VITEEE 2019 result.

VIT University will not announce any cut-off marks for any programme. It will only issue the stream-wise and campus-wise closing ranks. Candidates who are in the top merit (1 to 20,000) will be called for participating in the VITEEE  counselling  process. Those candidates who rank lower than the closing rank of a particular category will not be considered for admission. Therefore, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in VITEEE 2019 in order to become eligible for VITEEE 2019  counselling process.

Various factors considered while determining the VITEEE cut-off include the difficulty level of the examination, the number of candidates who appear in the examination, and total number of seats available.
