IIT Guwahati has released the revised GATE 2026 application fees. The GATE application fee for the General category is Rs. 2000, and for the Reserved category is Rs. 1000. The GATE application fee 2026 can be paid via Credit/Debit card/UPI/Net banking. Check details here.

GATE 2026 Application Fees: Application form and fee payment details have been released by the exam authorities for the upcoming GATE 2026 exam . The application process has started from August 28, 2025 in online mode at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. In order to submit the application form, a registration fee must be paid. IIT Guwahati has revised the application fee of the exam; the revised examination fee for general applicants is Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 for reserved applicants. GATE application form submission last date without a late fee is September 28, 2025. Later, the applicants will be provided with the facility to apply for the GATE 2026 exam by paying the late application fee of Rs. 2500 and Rs. 1500 for the general and reserved categories, respectively. IIT Guwahati has announced the timeline within which GATE application fee 2026 must be paid. The following are the dates for GATE 2026 registration and fee payment:

As mentioned earlier, the application fee for GATE 2026 varies for regular candidates and reserved category students. In the following table, we have mentioned the application fee for different category of applicants:

Following the initial deadline, a late fee will be applicable for submitting the GATE application form. The last date for submitting the GATE 2026 application form with a late fee is October 9, 2025. In the following table, we have provided the category wise late fee payment details:

2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection while making the application form fee payment.

3. You should carefully select your category while filling out the online application form, as the fees may differ for different categories.

In most Indian states, just having a BTech degree is not enough to appear for TET or DSC. You usually need a proper teaching course like B.Ed or D.El.Ed along with it.

This isn’t about how “big” or “small” your degree is. It’s about teacher training. A BTech gives you technical knowledge, but it does not train you to teach students in a classroom. That’s why, even if BTech is a higher degree, it is not considered a teaching qualification.
