In most Indian states, just having a BTech degree is not enough to appear for TET or DSC. You usually need a proper teaching course like B.Ed or D.El.Ed along with it.

This isn’t about how “big” or “small” your degree is. It’s about teacher training. A BTech gives you technical knowledge, but it does not train you to teach students in a classroom. Dear Student,

Yes, as an agricultural engineer with an MTech in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, you can apply for many PSU jobs through GATE Civil Engineering. However, it depends on the specific PSU, the post, and whether they accept a Civil Engineering GATE score for agriculture, water, or environmental roles.

Most PSUs require:

  • A valid GATE CE score for civil-related posts.
  • A good All India Rank , since cut-offs for big PSUs like IOCL, BPCL, NTPC, and PGCIL are usually high.

So, if the PSU accepts GATE CE for the post you’re interested in, scoring well in GATE CE …
