GATE EC 2026: Exam Date, Syllabus, Question Paper, Answer Key, Response Sheet

GATE EC 2026 exam date is set for February 15, 2026, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, for the Electronics and Communication Engineering paper. The exam is conducted as a Computer-Based Test, with the overall duration being 3 hours.

GATE EC syllabus and question paper are designed around core electronics and communication topics such as networks and signals, electronic devices, analog and digital circuits, control systems, communications, and electromagnetics, along with an Engineering Mathematics component included within the subject section. Apart from the core topics, students have to attempt the General Aptitude section, which consists of Verbal Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Aptitude, and Spatial Aptitude.

Within a few days after the exam, IIT Guwahati will release the GATE EC answer key and response sheet on the official website. Comparing their responses with the preliminary key, aspirants can estimate their probable score before the final results are announced. The GATE EC question paper includes multiple choice, multiple select, and numerical answer-type questions, with negative marking applicable only to incorrect MCQ responses.
