The proposed GATE 2026 application form last date is September 28 (without late fee). Like every year, the registration is being done online via GOAPS portal. What Is GOAPS in GATE?

For those of you who are unaware, GOAPS or GATE Online Application Process System, is the official portal for GATE 2026 exam registration and all related events, such as application editing, admit card and scorecard download etc.

How to Register for GATE 2026 through GOAPS?

The GATE registration process through GOAPS is quite simple and straightforward. All you need is a stable internet connection and a valid email ID. We have explained the step-by-step process below for your understanding.

Register at iitg.ac.in via GOAPS Portal

First things first, visit the official website of GATE 2026 conducting the body i.e. IIT Guwahati. The website link is gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Once you click on the 'GATE Application Portal' link on the homepage, you will be redirected to the new registration page where you will have to provide details, like your name, address, contact number, email address etc.

Generate GOAPS Enrollment ID

After you have successfully registered, you will get a unique GATE enrollment ID. This enrollment ID is going to come handy in various stages of your GATE exam, so we suggest you write it down or save it carefully.

During enrollment, make sure you enter a unique password that has 8 to 15 characters and include a combination of alphabets, numbers, and symbols. For example, “Abc**012**%&@**” The GATE enrollment ID and password are the login credentials that you will use to access the GOAPS portal.

What After GATE Registration 2026 through GOAPS?

The steps following GATE 2026 registration and enrollment ID generation include form fill up, document uploading, fee payment and finally, application form submission. Here is a look at each of the stages below.

Fill Out GATE Application Form

The next step is filling out the GATE 2026 application form. Enter personal information (name, DOB, parent’s name, contact number). Provide your full address, state/ city name, pin code for communication. Lastly, share your qualification details, like school and college name, qualifying exam marks, passing year etc. All this information must match the details mentioned in the documents/ certificates/ photo ID that you will be uploading.

Upload Photograph and Signature

Next, you will have to upload a scanned copy of your photograph and signature. We advise you to go through the document guidelines before uploading so that you know what all is needed from you. For example, if you belong to the reserved category, you will have to upload a caste certificate as a supporting document. Similarly, if you have any physical disability and need a scribe during the examination, you will have to upload relevant documents for that as well. While uploading photographs and signatures, make sure the size and specifications are as per the suggested guidelines else your application might be rejected.

Pay Application Fee

Your GATE application stands incomplete unless you complete the fee payment. The GATE registration fee amount is Rs. 1000 for Female/ SC/ ST/ PwD students and Rs. 2000 for all other category students. The payment has to be made online via GOAPS portal. You will have three options for payment: UPI, credit card/ debit card, and netbanking. You can also pay the fees using your international visa and master cards. After the successful GATE 2026 application fee payment, you will receive a unique “Fee Payment Number”. We suggest you save this fee payment number for further reference.

Review and Submit Form

After successfully paying the application fees, you can finally tick off the declaration statement and submit the registration form. We strongly recommend saving a copy of the GATE registration form 2026 in PDF format for future use.

How to Check GATE 2026 Application Status?

In case you want to know if your GATE application form has been accepted or not, you can simply check your application status after the final submission. All you need to do is follow these simple steps.

  • Firstly, open the GOAPS portal at gate2026.iitg.ac.in

  • Secondly, enter your newly generated GOAPS enrollment ID/ application number and password.

  • Next, click on the "Submit" button; the status of your GATE 2026 application form will instantly pop up on the screen.
