AIIMS MBBS Admissions 2022

Till 2019, medical aspirants who had dreamed of joining one of the AIIMS institutes scattered across India were required to clear the AIIMS MBBS examination. Later, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that all admissions to MBBS and BDS across India will be based on NEET-UG 2022. There are over 90,000 MBBS seats which include more than 45,000 Government Medical seats as well as around 2,000 AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS seats. The NEET 2022 will take place on 17th July 2022.

AIIMS, or All India Institute of Medical Sciences, offers a variety of medical courses like MBBS. The AIIMS MBBS admissions for 2022 will be based entirely on NEET-UG 2022 process. Therefore, candidates will be required to complete the entire admission process of NEET-UG 2022 in order to take admission in one of the AIIMS colleges in India. AIIMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2022

The medical aspirants who wish to pursue an MBBS course from AIIMS Institutes in India must first qualify for the AIIMS MBBS eligibility criteria 2022. However, as of 2019, aspirants must adhere to the NEET-UG 2022 eligibility criteria in order to pursue an AIIMS MBBS course. NEET-UG eligibility criteria for MBBS are as follows:

Academic Qualifications

  • All candidates must have cleared their class 12 board examination from one of the recognised boards of education.

  • Candidates must have completed their class 12 with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English

  • All General Category candidates must ensure that they have secured a 50% aggregate score in the qualifying exam, while SC, ST and OBC candidates are required to have secured a 40% aggregate score.

  • All PwD candidates belonging to the General Category must have secured a 45% aggregate score in the qualifying exam, meanwhile, PwD Candidates belonging to SC, ST & OBC categories are required to have secured a 40% aggregate score.

AIIMS MBBS Age Limit 2022

Along with qualifying the academic eligibility criteria, aspirants are also required to meet the NEET UG age limit of 2022. The age limit for NEET-UG 2022 is 17 years on or before 31st December 2022. The age limit for MBBS is as follows:

For the lower age limit, candidates who are 16 years old during the admission process, however, who will turn 17 by 31st December 2022 will be eligible for admission to the course. It is important to note, that candidates will be shortlisted based on their age on the specified date and not on the admission date.

AIIMS MBBS Application Process 2022

All aspirants who qualify for the different eligibility and age limit criteria for MBBS admissions as mentioned above will be able to partake in the AIIMS MBBS application process in 2022. Candidates must note, as previously mentioned, that admissions will be through NEET-UG 2022, therefore, all aspirants are required to apply for NEET-UG 2022, prior to selecting an AIIMS MBBS course. Here are the steps you need to follow for the application process for AIIMS MBBS 2022.

  • Candidates are first required to register themselves at the official website for NEET-UG 2022.

    • For this, you must enter in all the credentials such as your name, valid email ID and phone number, along with other details. You will also be asked to create a password and submit all the details.

    • Next, you will receive a unique application number, which will serve as your login ID. You will be required to log in with the Application Number you received and the password you created to obtain the NEET-UG 2022 application form.

  • After login in with the application number and password, you will be able to fill in the application form.

    • You must enter in all the details that have been earmarked as compulsory by the conducting body. You will be asked to enter the details in a step-wise process.

    • First enter in the basic personal details, then details pertaining to your birth, city and state, following which you will be asked to choose the medium of exam and the centre appropriate for you.

    • Details such as academic qualifications and the name of educational institutions from where you cleared your academics must be entered. You are required to fill in the necessary details and proceed to the next step.

  • After entering all the details, you will be required to upload the requisite images such as your photograph and signature in the specified format.

  • Applicants are then required to pay the NEET-UG 2022 application fee, as outlined by the NTA. The candidates will be able to pay the application fee in both online and offline modes.

  • After paying the necessary application fee and filling out the entire application form, a confirmation page will be presented on your screen. All candidates are advised to take a printout of the same and conserve the same for future admission processes.

Photograph and Signature Guidelines for NEET-UG 2022 Application

During the application process, applicants must adhere to the photograph and signature guidelines for NEET-UG 2022 application. As per the guidelines mentioned by NTA:

  • Candidates are to upload a scanned image of their recent photograph and signature.

  • For photograph, candidates must get their photograph clicked in front of a light background.

  • For their Signature, candidates must sign on white paper and get it scanned.

  • Only clear images for both photographs and signatures will be accepted.

AIIMS MBBS Application Fee 2022

All candidates applying for the course must pay the AIIMS MBBS Application Fee 2022. As mentioned above, candidates will be required to apply to NEET-UG 2022, therefore, the application fee for NEET-UG 2022 must be cleared. AIIMS MBBS Selection Process 2022

The AIIMS MBBS selection process 2022 will be based on the NEET 2022 counselling process. Once the NEET-UG results will be declared, a cut-off list will be released by the National Testing Agency, the NEET-UG 2022 conducting body. The candidates who qualify the NEET-UG 2022 cut-off will be eligible for the NEET-UG counselling process 2022.

In-Detail NEET-UG 2022 Counselling Process

In order to take part in the NEET-UG counselling process, as mentioned above, candidates are required to meet the cut-off criteria for NEET-UG 2022. Qualifying candidates will be eligible for AIQ or All India Quota Counselling process under NEET-UG 2022. The candidates will solely be selected based on their performance in the NEET-UG 2022 exam.

All candidates are required to register with the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on their official website, for the AIQ counselling process. Once the registration for the UG counselling process has been completed. Candidates will be able to fill in their choices for colleges and courses. Candidates are advised to select the college based on their priority and choice. The priority of a college can be changed by checking out the process mentioned in the link given above.

Candidates are also eligible for the state-wise counselling process, where colleges of a particular state allocate 85% of seats for domicile students and 15% of the seats for AIQ students. All students can apply for both categories or one, depending on their choice.

With the removal of university-level and state-level medical admission tests for UG medical courses such as MBBS and BDS, applicants are set to witness an increase in competition for the MBBS seats in India. Reports have suggested that this year, more than 21 applicants will be fighting over 1 MBBS seat in the country. However, the addition of AIIMS and JIPMER colleges under NEET-UG 2022 also increases the total number of seats for MBBS, while both state and central government are doing their bit to increase the overall number of MBBS seats in India.
