GATE AR 2026 Exam Date, Syllabus, Question Paper, Answer Key, Response Sheet covers key details on the Architecture and Planning paper conducted as part of the GATE examination framework.

The GATE 2026 exam for the AR paper will be organised by IIT Guwahati on February 15, 2026 , in the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, as per the official examination schedule.

As per the official paper pattern, the GATE AR paper follows a two-part structure. It includes compulsory sections, namely General Aptitude for 15 marks and a common Part A carrying 60 marks. Part B carries 25 marks, where aspirants must choose either Architecture (B1) or Planning (B2) during the exam. The total mark in GATE 2026 is 100, and the duration is 180 minutes.

The GATE AR syllabus for Part A (common) includes topics such as Architecture, Planning and Design, Construction and Management, Environmental Planning and Design, Urban Design, Landscape and Conservation, etc. Part B1 Architecture part has concepts such as History and Contemporary Architecture, Building Construction and Structural systems, and Building Services and Sustainability. Part B2 Planning component consists of areas such as Regional and Settlement Planning, Planning Techniques and Management, and Infrastructure Planning.

IIT Guwahati will release the GATE AR 2026 question paper officially after the conclusion of the exam. During the course of previous years, the difficulty level of the GATE AR exam has been moderate to difficult. The question paper includes a total of 2 sections and includes questions from GA and the core subject.
