There are two types of seats in the counselling process of NEET 2025 Exam . These are, 15% AIQ quota and 85% state quota seats. Once students accept their seats, then they can withdraw, reject or upgrade their seats in the counselling rounds. When a seat is assigned to a student, they must confirm and report to the allocated college for admissions. If they fail to report to the allocated institution within the given deadlines for seat confirmation & admission, then their security deposit will be forfeited.
Those students will not be able to take part in the further counselling rounds for admissions in the same year. As they failed to report to the allocated college, they will not be able to participate in the counselling rounds.

Meaning of Upgradation in NEET UG 2025 Counselling

In the NEET counselling process, the upgradation term means upgrading of seats. Within the deadlines, students must upgrade their seats by reporting to the allocated college and requesting an upgrade. They can leave the counselling process incomplete and request for upgrade.
They can only upgrade till round three, and after which they will not be eligible for upgradation of seats. The upgradation process allows students to accept better seats in the next counselling rounds for admission.
