MBBS Admission for NRI Students: State-wise NRI Quota Seats

India offers NRI (Non-Resident Indian) seats in both government medical colleges and private institutes. Five Indian states provide NRI seats: Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Pondicherry.
  • Variation in Tuition Fees: Tuition fees for NRI seats vary across states and colleges. The fee charged by different colleges for MBBS also differs from state to state. Government colleges charge the lowest NRI fees for MBBS in India. While some states have a fee structure where students need to pay $12,500 annually as their college tuition fees, some states charge $30,000 in the form of tuition fees from the NRI quota for NEET students.
  • Seat Allocation and Transfer: NRI students securing a seat but not claiming it result in the transferring of allocated seats. NRI students who manage to secure a seat but do not claim it and leave it vacant will be transferred to the existing state quota under either the state category or any other reserved category.
  • Low Competition and Cut-off Marks: Due to low NRI seat applications, competition is minimal. Since the number of students applying for the NRI seats is low, the cut-off marks for these colleges are also comparatively low owing to less competition.

Dear Student, For admission to the BVSc at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology Pantnagar, the expected ranks vary by category. If you're a general category candidate, aim for a rank within 500 to 1000. For OBC candidates, the range is 600 to 1200. SC candidates should ideally secure a rank between 1500 and 2000, and for ST candidates, the rank should be between 2700 and 3200. As the actual cutoff ranks can vary each year, striving for a high rank in the entrance exam conducted by the university will increase your chances of admission. Best of luck!
