MICAT 2024 Preparation for GE & PI

After the results for MICAT 2024 are declared, candidates have to prepare for the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

Shortlisting Candidates for GE & PI Rounds:

  • A psychometric test is conducted by the college soon after the results are out. Candidates will have to clear it to be considered for the GE and PI rounds. There is no weightage for this exam in the selection process and it is merely a qualifier test.
  • Qualifying candidates will then be shortlisted for the GE and PI round. If any candidate appears for both Phase 1 and Phase 2, the highest score will be considered.
  • Apart from that, the CAT/ XAT/ GMAT scores are also added. For such candidates, their performance in the MICAT section C will be assessed.
  • The Composite Score formula of 50% CAT/ XAT /GMAT scores and 50% MICAT scores will be employed for creating the shortlist.
  • MICAT Section C scores are normalized. The percentile and raw scores for each sub-section are considered and a minimum cut-off must be obtained by the candidates. Both Sections C & B have a sectional cut-off, both percentile and raw scores.
  • Candidates who qualify through Section C, and their performance in Section B are assessed to create the final merit list.
  • Based on the total MICAT scaled score, approximately 1/10th of the total number of candidates who appear in the two MICAT exams are shortlisted for GE & PI rounds.
  • Candidates will have to score a minimum of 3.5 marks in the Group Exercise round to be qualified for the final selection.
  • They have to score a minimum of 4 marks in the Personal Interview round to be qualified for the Final Merit List.
  • Candidates will have to appear for their GE and PI rounds at their respective centers. The rounds will be conducted in Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi.

MICAT 2024 Final Merit List

Here are some important points regarding the final merit list of MICAT 2024.

  • The final MICAT 2024 Merit List will be released by MICA in the second week of April 2024 (tentative).
  • Students who qualify in their first preference programs will have their names removed from the second preference.
  • The final list will be declared based on the Psychometric test, MICAT test (Phase 1 & Phase 2), Group Exercise, and Personal Interview round.
  • Further, if a candidate is offered a seat in his/her second priority program, then the admission is given with an undertaking to remove their name from the first preference. If the student declines the offer, they can continue on the waiting list for their first preference.

MICAT 2024 Selection Process

Go through the following points to know the selection process after MICAT 2024:

  • Selected students will have two options to choose from - PGDM and PGDM-C.
  • The final list will be prepared after taking into account all the parameters: CAT/XAT/GMAT scores, MICAT scores, and GE & PI scores.
  • The final list will be declared on the official website of the institute only. Candidates will have to take a look at the official website directly.
  • The merit list will be declared after the completion of the entire process. Any student skipping any step will not be considered for admission.
  • All candidates will have to select their first and second preferences mandatorily while filling out the form.

Once you clear all the parameters successfully, you can secure admissions to the preferred programs (PGDM, PGDM-C) for a two-year Post-Graduate course at the leading institutes.

Admission to either course, PGDM-C, and the PGDM, will be granted to students who have chosen both programmes based on merit. The candidate's choice of programme will also be taken into consideration. Since the PGDM programme places a stronger focus on analytics, PDGM applicants' quantitative abilities and data interpretation (QADI) cut-offs could be higher. A candidate's name will automatically be removed from the list of applicants for the programme of his or her second preference after that individual, according to the merit list, has been given admission to the course of his or her priority.

What are the components considered during the calculation of MICAT final composite score and what weightage is given to them?

The MICAT 2024 final composite score shall be created based on the following weightage:

  1. CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%
  2. MICAT: 30%
  3. GE: 20%
  4. PI: 30%

What is a good score in MICAT 2024?

A raw score of 45-50 in the Aptitude section can be regarded as a good score in MICAT 2024. MICA gives 20% weightage to CAT/XAT/GMAT which is an aptitude cum psychometric test, and 30% weightage to its own MICAT exam. A percentile above 85 for both CAT and XAT is considered a good score for admission in MICA.

How much CAT percentile is required for MICA?

You must have an overall 80 percentile on the CAT/XAT/GMAT for MICA. However, the actual cutoff may go above 80 percentile. Your CAT, XAT, or GMAT score must rank in the top 10% of all applicants to MICAT in order to receive a spot offer. However, regardless of your CAT/XAT/GMAT Score, you can be selected for the other usual list that will be released later based on your GE/PI and MICAT performance.

What weightage is given to CAT/XAT marks during the calculation of MICA composite score?

Performance on the CAT, XAT, or GMAT is not taken into consideration when determining the composite score used for ranking. The CAT, XAT, and GMAT are required exams for admission at MICA. But among all MICAT applicants, those who obtain confirmed offers (formerly known as "spot offers") must rank in the top 10% of applicants based on their CAT/XAT/GMAT scores.

How are candidates shortlisted for the MICAT final selection round?

MICA Ahmedabad will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT/XAT/GMAT exam score and MICAT score. 50% weightage is awarded to CAT/XAT/GMAT scores and another 50% weightage is given to MICAT scores.

What is the cutoff for MICAT 2024?

There is a sectional cutoff for MICAT 2024. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 8.5 to 12 marks out of 30 marks in the Divergent Convergent Thinking section, a minimum of 6.5 to 7.5 marks out of 25 marks in the Quant & DI section, a minimum of 8 to 10 marks out of 25 marks in the Verbal Ability section, and a minimum of 5.5 to 6.5 marks out of 25 marks in the General Knowledge section.

What is the minimum cutoff to qualify for MICAT 2024 merit list?

MICA Ahmedabad takes into account the General Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) scores for preparing the MICAT merit list. Candidates must obtain a minimum MICAT 2024 score of 3.5 out of 5 in the GE round and a 4 out of 5 in the PI round.

Can I get into MICA with a 70 percentile on the CAT?

If candidates get a good score in MICAT, a 70 to 75 percentile on the CAT will be accepted by MICA under some conditions, but there is no chance of admission if they obtain less than 70 percentile. However, since MICA also accepts XAT scores, candidates must try to score a good percentile like 75-80 on the XAT.

How much do MICA graduates earn?

The average annual salary package after graduating from MICA Ahmedabad stands at INR 19,00,000. The average yearly compensation for the top 50% of the candidates is INR 24,00,000. Also, the median package stands at INR 17,10,000. The top sector where maximum MICA graduates were recruited is IT/ ITES.

How is the MICAT final merit list created?

Merit-based admission will be offered, and only then will consideration of the programme of choice be given. When a candidate is offered admission to the programme of his or her first priority based on the merit list, their name is automatically removed from the list of applicants for the programme of their second priority. If a candidate is offered admission to a programme that is his second priority, he will have two choices: accept the offer and agree to have their name taken off the waitlist for the programme that is his first priority, or reject the offer and keep their name on the waitlist for the programme that is his first priority. All candidates who appear for the GE and PI rounds are taken into account when creating the final merit list, and they must be recommended by the majority of the PI panelists.
