To understand how to calculate the MICAT 2026 score, candidates must be aware of the marking scheme details of which are provided below:
As per the marking scheme, the aggregate score of each section obtained by a candidate will be his final mark in the MICAT 2026 exam.
The sectional score of a candidate in a particular component of MICAT I or MICAT II, for example, Verbal Ability (VA), will be converted into a Scaled Score with the help of the following formula for VA:
| Scaled Score - VA of a candidate 'X' in MICAT I/MICAT II = (Score - VA of the candidate 'X' / Maximum obtained by a candidate among the candidates who appeared for MICAT I/MICAT II in VA) * Maximum Possible Score in VA in MICAT I/MICAT II |
|---|
Candidates can check the expected cutoff for MICAT 2026, which is prepared on the basis of the previous year's cutoff.
Section | Expected Marks | Total Marks |
|---|---|---|
Divergent Convergent Thinking | 8.5 - 12 Marks | 30 Marks |
Quant and DI | 6.5 - 7.5 Marks | 25 Marks |
Verbal Ability | 8 - 10 Marks | 25 Marks |
General Knowledge | 5.5 - 6.5 Marks | 25 Marks |
The MICAT 2026 Selection Process includes the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview, for which candidates are selected based on their performance on the CAT/ XAT/GMAT and MICAT exams. Preparation of a shortlist for candidates for the GE and PI rounds includes the following aspects:
The following weightage will be considered for creating the final result or composite score for admission:

Parameters | Weightage |
|---|---|
CAT/XAT/GMAT | 20% |
MICAT 2026 | 30% |
Group Exercise | 20% |
Personal Interview | 30% |
After the successful completion of the GD and PI rounds for all candidates in March 2026, the MICAT 2026 final merit list will be published shortly thereafter in the first week of April 2026. The final admission decision will rely on a candidate's performance in the MICAT, the psychometric test, GD, and PI.
Candidates offered admission to their priority program will have their candidature automatically revoked from the second priority program. If a candidate is offered admission to their second priority program, they have two options: either accept the offer and enrol in their second priority program, which will require them to withdraw their name from the priority program, or refuse the offer, remaining on the waiting list for their priority program.
After the declaration of the MICAT 2026 result, MICA will release the cut-off marks, which are the minimum marks obtained by a candidate to qualify for the exam. Candidates should prepare for Group Discussion or Group Exercise (GD/GE) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their MICAT, GMAT, CAT, or XAT scores. The GE & PI shortlist for MICAT 2026 will be released in February 2026, along with the MICAT 2026 Phase II result.
To get shortlisted for GE and PI rounds, candidates have to meet the sectional cut-off in every section. For the GD and PI shortlist preparation, Section A (Psychometric Test) is mandatory but does not impact the merit list. The cut-off marks for Sections B and C (Descriptive Tests and subsections) are set by MICA Ahmedabad, and only those exceeding these marks proceed to GD and PI.
Shortlisting for GD and PI depends on overall performance in all rounds, and candidates must attend these sessions at their designated MICAT centre—choices include Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi. Applicants seeking admission without taking the MICAT 2026 can still be considered based on their CAT, GMAT, or XAT scores. Following the successful completion of all GD and PI rounds, the final Merit list for MICAT 2026 will be published.
