CEED & UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2024: Applicants who have appeared for the CEED & UCEED entrance exam this academic year must be awaiting the results, but before that, they must be aware of the tie-breaker policy. CEED & UCEED tie-breaker policy comes into effect when two more students score the same marks. This policy is framed by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
Candidates with higher scores in Part B will be awarded a higher rank, as per UCEED tie-breaker policy. In CEED, students who qualify for Part B will only be awarded a merit rank. The tie-breaker policy will help in determining the final rankings for the counselling process.
IIT Bombay is the conducting body of both the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) and the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) exams. The CEED entrance exam selects candidates for postgraduate programmes while the UCEED exam is for selecting potential candidates for undergraduate programmes. Both CEED and UCEED exams are divided into two parts: A and B, which carry separate marks distribution. It must be noted that the marks of both parts will be considered for the final merit list. Refer to this complete article to understand the CEED & UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2024.
UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy
The UCEED tie-breaker policy will be applied if two or more candidates score the same total marks. This policy is used to grant rank to the candidate which will help them seek admission to their dream college. Check out the policy below:
- The candidate who has scored higher marks in Part B of the entrance will be awarded a higher rank.
- However, if the first criterion does not help break the tie, a higher rank will be given to a candidate with more marks in section 2 of Part A.
- Even if both the above criteria do not constitute breaking the tie, then the candidate with a higher score in section 1 of Part A will be assigned a higher rank.
- Lastly, if the tie continues, then candidates will be awarded the same rank.
