Since the 2022-23 academic session, the institute has also started the 4 years Bachelors in Design (BDes) course.

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has always been a popular destination for pursuing design related courses. The students must meet the eligibility criteria to take admission in different courses related to design.  IIT Delhi BDes Eligibility Criteria 2024

The students can check the eligibility criteria for IIT Delhi BDes course mentioned below.

• The students must have completed the qualifying examinatio-n (Class XII or equivalent) from a recognized board or University with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. 
• The students must have scored 60% marks or 6 scale out of 10 CGPA for General category and 55% or 5.5 scale out of 10 CGPA  for SC/ST/PwD category.
• The students must possess a valid score card for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) which is conducted by the IITs. 

IIT Delhi MDes Eligibility Criteria 2024

• The students must have completed 4 Year Bachelors in Design (BDes) to take admission in Masters in Design course. 
• The students must have scored 60% marks or 6 scale out of 10 CGPA for General category and 55% or 5.5 scale out of 10 CGPA  for SC/ST/PwD category.
•  The students applying for postgraduate program must have the valid scorecard of the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CCED). The CCED examination is conducted by the IITs as part of their central admission procedure. 

IIT Delhi PhD Eligibility Criteria 2024

The PhD courses offered at IIT Delhi through the Department of Design are full time and part time PhD programs. The PhD programs are interdisciplinary and the department offers research opportunities in multiple research domains pertaining to design such as industrial design, product design, communication design, interaction design, and many other related fields. The common eligibility criteria for different design related PhD programs are mentioned below. 

• The students must have cleared the qualifying examination (Masters) in the related field. 
• The students must have scored 60% marks or 6 scale out of 10 CGPA for General category and 55% or 5.5 scale out of 10 CGPA  for SC/ST/PwD category.
• The students must have a valid CCED/GATE score card. These scorecards are not required for sponsored/self financed students.

IIT Delhi Design Courses Admission Process 2024

Admission to design-related courses at the Indian Institute of Technology involves a straightforward process based on the course level. • Step 1. Allocation Based on Choice and Rank:

Seats are allocated to candidates based on their preferences and rankings in the entrance examination.

• Step 2. Entrance Exam Scores:

Candidates must note that for BDes admission, they are required to have a valid UCEED scorecard. Even for the MDes program candidates need to present a CEED score card.

• Step 3. Seat Confirmation Options:

After the seat allocation round, students can choose to either freeze the allotted seat or opt for a floating option to explore other seat choices.

• Step 4. Fee Payment for Seat Confirmation:

Candidates who have secured a seat are required to pay the necessary course fee to confirm and freeze their seats. Without the fee payment, the seat will be given to other candidates.

• Step 5. Postgraduate Admission:

Postgraduate candidates need to appear for a Design Aptitude Test which will be followed by an interview round.

• Step 6. PhD Admission:

PhD applicants need to go through a presentation containing a concise synopsis of design-related topics.
