IIM Visakhapatnam Selection Criteria 2025-27: CAT Cut Off, Shortlisting Criteria, Weightage

The IIM Visakhapatnam selection criteria 2025-27 encompass a list of factors like scores in CAT 2024 , academic track, work experience and Personal Interview (PI). For General category applicants, the qualifying CAT 2024 cutoff percentile last year was 82, which will likely remain the same this year. While scoring the minimum percentile in CAT will be a primary requirement, a candidate would need to satisfy several other conditions defined in the IIM Visakhapatnam PGP admission policy, which focuses on academic achievements, experience, and diversity. Official Admission Policy and the PI Shortlist Form will be out in the second week of January 2025. The PI round will take place in April 2025. IIM Visakhapatnam Selection 2025-27 Phase I

The candidates who select IIM Visakhapatnam as one of their choices at the time of filling up the CAT 2024 application form will be considered for the PI round if they meet the CAT 2024 cutoff percentile for admission. Candidates who are shortlisted will then need to confirm their interest in admission to the PGP course at IIMV and for this purpose, they will have to fill out an online application form which will be made available after the CAT 2024 result.

The initial phase of selection takes the candidate’s CAT score into consideration and selection is done only if the candidate has secured the minimum sectional as well as overall cut-off set by IIM Visakhapatnam.

Minimum Percentile Requirements for the First Shortlist

If the candidates have qualified for the cut-off mentioned above, they must re-confirm their interest in participating in the selection criteria of the institute in order to be considered. On confirming the candidature, applicants will receive a mail from the institute inviting them to participate in the selection process.

In the second stage, IIM Visakhapatnam will consider the candidates' percentage scores in Class 10 and 12 boards. Apart from that, the institute gives certain weightage to work experience acquired by a candidate. Candidates who have pursued professional courses including Chartered Accountancy , Company Secretary, and CMA course will be given additional weightage.

The score of work experience for every eligible candidate is calculated out of 8 using the following formula:

• Work Experience = 8x/36 (if 0 <x <36) OR
• Work Experience = 8 (if x >= 36)

Here, x is the number of months counted up to the date of release of CAT notification of the respective year. The work experience calculated with the help of the above formula is multiplied by the quality of work experience score that is given on a 5-point scale.

The quality of work experience is given by the interviewer during the personal interview and the score evaluated for work experience is considered for the final selection. Candidates can apply either for weightage through work experience or professional course weightage. A candidate will not be considered for both components.

Candidates are shortlisted for the next round of selection on the basis of the score achieved by them in different components.

Final selection is done based on the collective performance of a candidate in CAT, WAT, GD, and PI.  A pre-PI rank list basis the parameters mentioned will be created. Candidates who get shortlisted will be called for the PI round and they will have to submit a detailed application which will comprise:

• Semester-wise/year-wise marks in the Bachelor's degree
• Statement of Purpose for MBA Admission
• Copies of work experience certificates
• Copies of all academic transcripts and certificates
• Disability certificate (if applicable)

Also, candidates who have appeared for the GD, WAT, and PI rounds by any one or more than one of the IIMs including IIM Bangalore , IIM Indore , IIM Calcutta , IIM Lucknow , and IIM Kozhikode , will not be required to appear for the same at IIM Visakhapatnam.

The scores in PI and WAT secured by the candidates at any of these IIMs will be obtained by IIM Visakhapatnam and selection will be done based on the weightage chart given below.
