Expected NEET 2024 Qualifying Marks

The NEET 2024 Counselling Process relies on qualifying marks to determine the minimum score required for eligibility. It is a common misconception among students to assume that the qualifying marks for NEET are simply 50% of the total score, such as 720/2 = 360. However, it is important to grasp the distinction between percentile and percentage and comprehend how they differ.

For instance, if the NEET qualifying mark is set at the 50th percentile, it means that a candidate must surpass at least 50% of the total number of NEET applicants. This highlights the relative performance of candidates in comparison to their peers.

The specific qualifying marks for NEET vary from year to year, typically falling within the range of 150 to 200. However, candidates must note that scores within this range may not be sufficient to secure admission to renowned medical colleges.

  • This ensures that candidates can easily identify the specific version of the test they have taken.

  • To ascertain their NEET score in 2024, medical aspirants will need to meticulously tally the number of correct and incorrect responses they have given.

  • Important note: If a question has multiple answers marked, treat it as unanswered, as per the examination guidelines.

  • The NEET UG 2024 marking scheme will be employed in the calculation of scores.

  • Formula for calculation: NEET 2024 score = [4 * (Number of Correct Responses)] - [1 * (Number of Incorrect Responses)].

  • By plugging in the corresponding values, candidates can accurately calculate their scores based on this established formula.

NEET Passing Marks 2024: Tie-breaking Process

In instances where two or more candidates achieve identical ranks in NEET, the tie-breaking criteria for NEET cutoff qualifying scores will be implemented. The following steps, prioritized in sequence, will be employed to resolve ties in the NEET results. Please note that the age-based tie-breaking method has been discontinued for NEET 2024.

  1. Higher Marks/Percentile in Biology: Priority will be given to candidates who have attained higher marks/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology) for the NEET merit list. This criterion is utilized to establish rankings in cases of tied overall scores.

  2. Higher Marks/Percentile in Chemistry: If the tie persists, precedence will be given to the candidate with higher marks/percentile in Chemistry. This additional criterion serves to differentiate candidates who have achieved identical scores in Biology.

  3. Fewer Incorrect and Correct Answers Attempted: Should the tie persist, preference will be given to students who have attempted fewer incorrect and correct answers. This criterion underscores the importance of accuracy in responses and rewards candidates who have provided more correct answers.
