UCEED Reservation Policy 2020

Here is the UCEED reservation policy in detail and a few pointers that candidates taking the exam need to take note of:

  • The percentage of seats reserved will be based on the number of seats available for B.Des at a given institute for the current academic year.

  • The name of the backward class must be in the current central list of OBCs. OBC-NCL certificates issued from April 1, 2018 onwards will be accepted.

  • Candidates belonging to the OBC Creamy Layer will not be entitled to UCEED 2020 reservation. Such candidates will be treated as belonging to the Unreserved or Open category.

  • The benefit of reservation can be availed only by those castes and tribes that are mentioned in the respective lists of the corresponding states released by the Government of India.

  • The 5% reservation under UCEED for Person with Disability (PwD) applicants is cycled over in four years, category-wise, as per rules of the admitting institute. If a PwD seat remains vacant in a particular year, it will be added to the category from which the PwD seat was assigned.

  • Vacant seats in the OBC-NCL category may be allotted to Unreserved or Open category candidates and unfilled seats under the SC and ST categories will not be allotted to other category candidates.

  • Leprosy-cured UCEED candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the course shall also be included in the PwD category.

  • Candidates holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cards are treated as belonging to the Unreserved category. They will be allocated seats that are available for everyone else.

  • Candidates belonging to the categories of OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD will be considered qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion.

  • The category chosen by a candidate at the time of registering for UCEED 2020 will be final and no requests for any change of category will be entertained at a later date.
