Students with a good ranking at JEE Advanced 2023 can now check the JoSAA 2023 seat allotment round 6 result released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority on July 27, 2023. The JoSAA counselling 2023 commenced on June 19, 2023, following the release of the JEE Advanced 2023 result on June 18, 2023.

It is important to keep yourself abreast of the tricky rules of counselling. Remember, even if you are, somehow, not eligible for IIT or the desired branch in IITs, you may very well get a seat of your choice in one of the NIT + institutes with a proven track record.

How does admission in 23 IITs and other JEE Advanced participating institutes place?

A Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 23 institutes for the academic year 2023-24. Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform. JoSAA is the ONLY authorized agency responsible for joint seat allocation.

JEE Advanced 2023 JoSAA counselling: Eligibility Criteria for Admission into IITs

Eligibility for IITs and a few other technical Institutes funded fully or partially by the Central or State government [Other-GFTIs] is largely the same.

On the basis of the score in JEE Main 2023 and normalized score in Class 12th or equivalent qualifying exam (60% & 40% weightage respectively), separate rank lists will be prepared for admission to institutions other than IITs. Only the All India Rank (AIR) is used for admissions to NITs/IIITs/CFTIs/SFIs/Others.

To get considered for IITs, apart from your score/rank, the following are important:

  • You should NOT have been admitted to an IIT OR even accepted the IIT  seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.
  • If your admission at IITs or ISM was cancelled in the past, then you are NOT eligible.
  • If you have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2015 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2016. Even if you have paid the seat acceptance fee but have not accepted the seat by reporting at the reporting centre during joint seat allocation in 2015, you are eligible.

The candidates should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria for admission to IITs and ISM

  • Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 70%.
  • Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination.
  • The detailed instructions for filling in the choices and the seat allotment procedure will be made available by JoSAA through Seat Allotment Brochure.

The schedule of the joint seat allocation will be announced separately by JoSAA 2023. The list of courses that will be offered by the IITs and ISM for admission for the academic year 2023-24 will be made available at the time of the online filling-in of choices.

Dear student, Your chances of getting CS, IS, or EC at Siddaganga Institute of Technology with a KCET rank of 19,889, 3B with Kannada medium and rural quota are slim. The closing rank for CS in 2022 was 13,015, and for IS it was 15,657. However, the cutoffs may vary slightly in 2023, so it is still possible that you could get one of these branches if there are no major changes to the number of seats or the number of students applying. Here are the closing ranks for CS, IS, and EC in Siddaganga Institute of Technology in 2022: …
