NEET State-wise Rank List 2023

NTA releases the NEET 2023 State Wise Merit List & Rank List on its official website. The list is prepared based on individual scores obtained by candidates in the entrance exam. On the basis of their ranks, students will then be shortlisted for the counselling process for 85% State Quota seats and 15% All India Quota seats, and all seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMS/ESIC, and central/deemed universities. 

NEET state-wise merit list 2023, prepared by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will be elemental in deciding the medical colleges that students can avail of on the basis of their NEET score. Following the announcement of the state-wise merit list, students will have to appear for the NEET Counselling 2023, which will be conducted by the state medical council or state conducting authority.

Types of NEET 2023 State Wise Merit List & Rank List

The merit list for NTA NEET can be categorized into the following types:

NEET 2023 Merit List - All India Rank (AIR)

The list includes the names and overall ranks of the candidates irrespective of their category and stance towards the AIQ reservation. 

NEET 2023 Merit List - All India Quota (15% AIQ)

The AIQ merit list features names of candidates who are eligible for 15% seats under the AIQ. The list, however, excludes applicants belonging to the state of Jammu & Kashmir. If candidates from J&K wish to apply for All India Quota seats, they will need to submit a duly signed self-declaration form. The DGHS on behalf of the MCC will then conduct counselling based on the AIQ rank obtained by candidates.

NEET 2023 Merit List – 85% State Quota 

The State Quota merit list is prepared by the respective state medical councils to offer 85% seats to candidates belonging to the state. This is done on the basis of factors, like the candidate’s eligibility and domicile requirement. This will showcase a comparison of the ranks obtained by the candidates within the same state.

Reservation Criteria Applicable on NEET Merit List

As known, only those candidates who manage to score the minimum cutoff marks will secure a place in the NTA NEET merit list 2023. It is on the basis of the scores that they will be allotted ranks. NEET State-wise Merit List Announcement Process 2023

  • Hand-over of merit list of qualified candidates of NEET by CBSE to state conducting body

  • The list includes domicile details as well

  • State to bring out the final state-wise merit list basis reservation policies, set of eligibility criteria, admission procedure & other rules & norms (differs from state to state)

  • State conducting body will hold counselling basis the merit list released by them

Tie-Breaker Criteria Applicable for NEET Merit List & Rank List 2023

In the case of a Merit List Tie-Break for NEET 2023, the following process will take precedence:

  • The student with a better score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) will get a higher rank

  • The same process to be taken into consideration for Chemistry

  • Students with fewer mistakes (in the answer paper) will be given an advantage

  • If none of the above measures breaks the tie, then the candidate older in age will be given preference
