Private College Engineering Entrance Exams:

Universities like Manipal University, VIT University, SRM Universities, etc. conduct their own entrance exams basis which admissions are done in B.Tech courses. The applications of most of these exams have been released. These top private engineering colleges also require students to secure at least 60% marks in class 12 board exams with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

State-level Engineering Entrance Exams:

Admission to some of the top state-level and private institutes is done on the basis of the state-level engineering entrance exam. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) in the respective state conducts such exams. Domicile holders of the respective state also get an advantage while taking admission as state colleges reserve 85% seats for the in-state residents.

The exam pattern of all entrance exams will differ according to the norms of the DTEs and the university in question. However, all the exams will comprise questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Few of the exams will also comprise a section of logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude.

Yes, you can take lateral entry admission to Computer Science Engineering at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology with your Diploma percentage. However, you also need to appear for the Karnataka DCET entrance exam which is a common entrance test conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). After qualifying for the DCET exam, you will be eligible for direct admission to 2nd year of Computer Science Engineering.
