Ayush Courses and Admissions In India

The list of AYUSH Courses in India includes BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BSMS, and BUMS. Students across the nation have been looking at pursuing higher education in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy as an alternative to MBBS Course and BDS Course . As long as students meet the requirements, they can study one of the AYUSH programs in India at the undergraduate or graduate levels. As with other medical programs, students will be able to pursue an MS and an MD at the postgraduate levels. Students must earn at least 45% to 50% of the possible points in their higher secondary education to be eligible to study Ayush Courses in India.

Admissions to the AYUSH courses are based on an entrance exam, which will be conducted differently for both UG and PG courses. Students will be required to attempt entrances such as NEET 2025 Exam (for UG Courses) and AIAPGET 2025 (for PG Courses) to pursue an AYUSH course in India. The AYUSH NEET UG 2025 Counselling is ongoing from August 22, 2025. The Round 1 registration will conclude on September 1, 2025, and the Round 1 Seat Allotment Result will be declared on September 4, 2025.

AYUSH AIQ Admission Dates 2025

Ayush UG Courses in India

If you wish to pursue a course in AYUSH at the undergraduate level, then there are plenty of courses in each field. In other words, the students will be able to pursue UG courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. Here is a list of Ayush UG courses in India.

Ayush PG Courses in India

In other medical fields, graduates of MBBS and BDS can pursue courses in MD (Doctor of Medicine) or MS (Master of Surgery). Similarly, graduates in the field of AYUSH will be able to pursue the postgraduate programmes in AYUSH courses as well, i.e. in MD and MS.

AYUSH Admissions in India

As mentioned above, the students who are interested in pursuing any of the above-mentioned programmes must appear for an entrance test for either UG or PG courses. In India, two entrance exams are conducted, one each for UG and PG courses. Here are the entrance exams that the aspirants will need to attempt to apply for admission to the AYUSH courses in India.

  • For UG Ayush Courses - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2025)
  • For PG Ayush Courses - All India Ayush Postgraduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET 2025)

AYUSH Eligibility Criteria in India

The students who wish to pursue any one of the programmes will first need to meet the Ayush eligibility criteria in India. The eligibility criteria for the courses will be set by the college, institute or University that offers the programme. However, aspirants will still be required to have satisfied the general eligibility criteria for AYUSH in India. Check out the eligibility criteria for the programmes.

AYUSH UG Eligibility Criteria 2025

For admissions to the undergraduate programmes in AYUSH, interested students will need to ensure that they meet the AYUSH UG eligibility criteria 2025. As mentioned above, students must appear for an entrance test in order to take admission to any one of the Ayush UG courses in India.

  • Students will have to qualify for the eligibility criteria for the NEET 2025, before applying for any AYUSH programme. As per the eligibility criteria;
    • Students should have cleared class 12 board examinations in the stream of science with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology Along with English from CBSE or any other recognized state board.
    • Students who are currently appearing for class 12 board examinations will also be eligible for the exam, however, they will need to present the passing certificates with the required percentage in the specified subjects.
  • Students will need to ensure that they have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 50% (for the General Category) in the qualifying exam. students from reserved categories will be offered relaxation as per the government guidelines.
  • Students who fall under the SC/ST/OBC category and PwD category in SC/ST/OBC will need to ensure that they have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 40%
  • Students belonging to General Category but also in PwD category will be required to have a minimum aggregate score of 45% in the qualifying exam.
  • Students will also be offered state-quota reservation as well, for those who appear for NEET in their respective domicile states.

AYUSH PG Eligibility Criteria 2025

The students wishing to pursue one of the PG courses in Ayush will be required to qualify the AYUSH PG eligibility criteria 2025. Just like the admissions to the UG AYUSH programmes, the students will be required to sit for an all-India entrance test meant for AYUSH PG courses. As per the eligibility criteria;

  • A valid UG degree in BUMS, BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BSMS, or a graded BHMS.

Or

  • Students with a Provisional BUMS, BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BSMS, or a graded BHMS degree as per the guidelines of IMCC 1970/HCC 1973 Act provisions will also be eligible for the exam. Along with this, students will need to have a provisional or permanent registration certificate in BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BNYS, BSMS or a graded BHMS degree, which has been issued by CCH, CCIM, Universities, State Board, or Deemed Universities will also be eligible.
  • Along with the aforementioned eligibility criteria, the students should have completed a one-year Internship in order to apply for AIAPGET 2025.

AYUSH Application Process 2025

As mentioned above, the students need to appear for either NEET-UG 2025 or AIAPGET 2025. All the selections of the students for the AYUSH course at the UG and PG levels will be made basis the scores in the entrance exam. Therefore, the students will be required to apply for the entrance exam, irrespective of the course they choose

AYUSH Selection Process in India 2025

Once the candidate has applied for the respective entrance exam, i.e., NEET-UG or AIAPGET, they will be able to go through the AYUSH selection Process in India 2025. For admissions to either undergraduate or postgraduate programmes, students will need to score a rank in one of the entrance tests. All admissions, as stated above, are done on the basis of the entrance exam scores.

After attempting the respective entrance test, the students will be asked to register for a counselling process. Through the counselling process, the students will be asked about their preferred college, Institute, or University, under which they wish to pursue the respective AYUSH course. Through the counselling process, the students will be allotted the seats. The seat allotment for the various AYUSH courses will be dependent on the score obtained by the candidate in the entrance tests, i.e., NEET-UG 2025 or AIAPGET 2025.

The counselling process for both NEET-UG 2025 and AIAPGET 2025 will allow the students to select the college and course of their choice in the field of Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. Students will need to display their rank or score, which has been obtained in the respective entrance exam.
