Eligibility Criteria for BHEL Recruitment through CLAT 2026

Only the candidates who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility requirements will be held eligible for BHEL recruitments through CLAT:

Educational Qualification:

  • The candidate must have qualified a regular Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B or B.L) from a university approved by the BCI .
  • Candidates who have obtained these degrees through distance or correspondence will be considered eligible to apply.
  • Candidates with Post Graduate degrees or Diploma in Labour / Taxation / Commercial Law will be given more preference.

Experience Qualification:

The candidate must have a minimum of one year of experience as an Officer or Executive in a legal set-up after qualifying graduation in law. The legal set up must be of the Government/ Public Sector Undertaking/ Semi-Government/ Nationalised Banks/ Listed Companies on NSE/BSE.

Candidates with the following will be desirable:

  • Drafting/ scrutinizing/ vetting of commercial deeds/ documents including inter-alia.
  • Instruments, agreements, contracts, indemnity bonds, affidavits, deeds, bank guarantees, pleadings, consortium & collaboration agreements etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under different laws.
  • Handling legal/court cases including court arbitration, domestic enquiry proceedings, service matters, labour cases, etc.
  • Rendering legal opinion/ advice on various matters.
  • Handling of matters relating to RTI.
  • Practice of law as an Advocate either in a reputed law firm or before the Supreme Court/ District Courts/ High Courts, appearance before the arbitral tribunals or other tribunals, etc.

Upper Age Limit:

  • For candidates belonging to the general category, the upper age limit is 30 years.
  • FOr SC/ST, OBC (NCL), General PWD, OBC (NCL) PWD, SC/ST PWD candidates, the upper age limit is relaxable by 3, 10, 13, and 15 years respectively.

The application process for the position of Law Officer - Grade E1 at BHEL is a three-stage process. Find the same below:

Step 1: Filling up Online Application

  • Visit the official website of BHEL.
  • Click on “Apply Online” to initiate the application process.
  • Fill in all the given fields like Personal Details, Educational Qualification, etc. by referring to relevant documents.
  • Click on the “Submit” button and an Acknowledgement Number will be generated. Keep the number safely.

Step 2: Uploading of Scanned Documents and Images

  • Click on “Latest Status” on the official website of BHEL.
  • Login using your Acknowledgement Number as the Username and the Date of Birth as the Password.
  • The documents that are required to be uploaded are Photograph and Signature which should not exceed 500KB and must be in jpg/.jpeg format, B.L/LL.B degree certificate, Category Certificate (if applicable), Disability Certificate (if applicable), Certificate/Documents in support of Post - Qualification Experience, DOB Certificate which should not exceed 1 MB and must be in jpg/.jpeg format.

Step 3: Submission of the Application Fee

  • Make sure you did not make any mistakes while filling out the application form.
  • Candidates can pay the fee by Credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ EXSM/ PWD categories do not need to pay online.
  • After successful payment of the application fee, the application will be considered valid.

Selection Process for BHEL Recruitment through CLAT 2026

Candidates interested in joining BHEL will be selected on the basis of the following:

Stage I:

  • Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the score obtained in CLAT PG 2026. It shall be in the order of merit in the ratio of 1:10 to the number of positions available in each category.
  • In order to shortlist as per a 1:10 ratio, all the UR candidates and the OBC, SC and ST candidates will be grouped together and arranged in descending order of CLAT 2026 score. These candidates will be selected for interviews in the UR category.
  • Following this, UBC/ST/SC candidates who are not shortlisted for an interview under the UR category shall be regrouped with their respective categories for an interview in the ratio of 1:10 in their respective categories.
  • All the candidates with the same cut-off mark will be shortlisted for BHEL interviews.

Step II:

The final merit list will be made on the basis of weightage as given below:

Candidates shortlisted for BHEL Interviews will be required to produce the following documents in original at the time of interview:

  • High School Certificate as Date of Birth proof.
  • PG Certificate and Marksheets, if applicable.
  • BL/LLB Degree Certificate & Mark Sheets of all years/semesters.
  • Work Experience Certificates.
  • Latest Physically Challenged Certificate, if applicable.
  • SC/ST Certificate, if applicable. It should be according to the Govt. prescribed format.
  • Ex-serviceman certificate, if applicable.
  • Self-Undertaking in the format (Download prescribed format from website) for OBC ('NonCreamy Layer Status).
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate, if applicable. Download Govt. prescribed format.

Note: The candidate shall download the interview letter, and no separate interview call letter shall be mailed to the candidate. Such candidates will also be reimbursed 2nd class sleeper train fares only if proof of the same is produced.

BHEL Remuneration and Other Benefits

The selected candidate will be placed at a pay scale of Rs 24,900 - 50,500. Apart from that, they will also avail the following benefits:

  • Industrial Dearness Allowance (126.9% of Basic Pay)
  • Perks and other Allowances (up to a maximum of 46% of Basic Pay) and benefits such as Leaves, Gratuity, Uniform, Subsidized Canteen Facilities, medical facilities for self and dependent family member, Provident Fund, Leave Encashment, Company assisted accommodation or HRA, etc.

Note: The remuneration is revised every year and the same shall be applicable as and when informed by the GoI.
