GATE Engineering Sciences - IISC Bangalore will be conducting GATE exam. Engineering Sciences is one of the most sought-after papers in the GATE examination. Engineering Science (XE) Syllabus is organized into 8 parts, labeled from A to H. Candidates are required to try three parts out of the 8 parts in GATE Engineering Sciences exam with part XE-A  i.e. Engineering Mathematics mandatory for all. The GATE XE Paper is conducted for the candidates who opt for the following options as their second paper in the exam Production and Industrial Engineering (PI), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Aerospace Engineering (AE), Mining Engineering (MN), Metallurgical Engineering (MT), Chemical Engineering (CH), Petroleum Engineering (PE), and Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF).

Through the GATE XE exam, candidates will be offered admission into M. Tech courses based on their choices at the GATE Participating Colleges . The admission into the Engineering Sciences program will be done based on the result of GATE. All the eligible candidates will be allotted seats for admission via the GATE Counselling Process . It is crucial for the candidates to have complete knowledge about the GATE XE exam along with the dates, subjects, patterns, question papers, etc. which will be covered in this article.

There are a variety of subjects that will be included in the GATE XE exam. The candidates can select any of the subjects from them. GATE XE Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

GATE XE Exam Pattern will help the students get an idea of the structure of the exam. The GATE XE exam will be conducted in online mode which will be computer-based. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. There will be two types of questions asked in the exam: MCQs, MSQs, and NATs-type questions. The paper will be conducted in English medium. There will be a total of 65 questions with an overall score of 100. The paper will consist of 3 major sections: General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Engineering Science subjects.

Marking Scheme

  • For 1 mark questions, each correct answer will hold 1 mark and wrong responses will lead to a deduction of 0.5 marks.
  • For 2 Marks Questions, each correct answer will yield 2 marks and for wrong answers, -⅔ will be deducted.

Dear Student,

It is not mandatory to pay the tuition fee for the college allotted in Phase 1 to be eligible for Phase 2 of TS PGECET 2025 counselling. If you wish to upgrade your seat you can participate in Phase 2 web options even if you do not pay the fees or report to the college allotted in the first phase. However, if you have already paid the fee for the Phase 1 college and then get a new seat in the second phase of counselling, the fees paid earlier be transferred to the new college.
