FAQs
GFTI colleges are government-funded technical institutions and are the premier higher educational institutes. GFTIs comprise Universities, Engineering and Architecture colleges which are funded by the Government of India.
The GFTI Fee structure varies from institute to institute. The average fee structure in the GFTIs ranges from Rs 30,000 - INR 2,50,000. The fees of GFTIs are usually lower than that of the IITs & NITs since the GFTIs are state-run institutes.
With an 85 percentile in the JEE Mains 2025 exam, candidates have a good chance of getting admission into several reputable colleges for engineering. Some of the colleges to consider for 85 percentile in the JEE Main 2025 exam are the NITs and GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes).
Punjab Engineering College (PEC) in Chandigarh is a renowned GFTI which provides high-quality engineering courses and boasts of a strong placement record.
IIT Hyderabad is a private institute and it does not participate in the JoSAA counselling process. IIT Hyderabad has its own admission process for undergraduate programmes such as B. Tech and Dual Degree.
GFTIS offers quality education, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and experienced faculty members to its students. Graduates from the GFTI colleges are highly sought after by the top companies and organisations, making it a wise choice for students who want to pursue a career in engineering.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the admission process for all the GFTI colleges. The admissions into the GFTIs are done based on the students' ranks in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main.
University of Hyderabad, Birla Institute of Technology - BITS Mesra and UoH Hyderabad are the best GFTI colleges in India for pursuing the B.Tech CSE programmes. The average fees for GFTIs in India range anywhere between the range of INR 30,000 - INR 2,50,000, depending upon the course and college.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for conducting admission across the 40 government funded technical institutes through its official website. The admissions are done on the basis of merit secured in the JEE Main 2025 entrance exam.
The expected cutoffs for JEE Main 2025 GFTIs will fall in the bracket of 80-120 for the General category, whereas the OBC, SC, and ST candidates will have cutoffs which are approximately 30-50% lower. On the basis of the past year trends, Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering might have closing ranks ranging from 25,000-50,000.
