HIMT Kanchipuram Scholarships 2023-24: Details, Eligibility, Amount

Every academic year, several scholarships are awarded on the criteria of need – cum-merit. These scholarships are awarded to trainees from the low income group who achieve continuous meritorious academic performance and demonstrated economic needs are the key criteria for this scholarship. Madhurika Educational and Charitable trust has instituted 3 Merit cum Means based scholarships for GP rating students from 2006 in memory of Late Smt. Madhurika Suresh Vakil. The objective is to provide financial support to those identified students undergoing GP rating course at HIMT College. Each student undergoing the 6 months GP rating course is given a Scholarship amount of Rs. 25,000/-.

MADHURIKA EDUCATIONAL & CHARITABLE TRUST Scholarships are awarded to meritorious students of various courses based on their outstanding academic performance.

First year students of HIMT College who secure the highest marks in the Plus Two examinations at All India level will have their entire tuition fee waived for the first academic year. Similarly, if the same student continues to secure highest marks in hischosen discipline, (without any arrears in each semester) in the subsequent years, then 100% of his tuition fees would be waived.

The top ten rank holders of any State or Central Board Examination at the Plus Two or equivalent level are entitled to pursue any of the Pre-sea courses at 50% of the tuition fees. Similarly, if the same student continues to secure highest marks (without any arrears in each semester) in the subsequent years, then 50% of his tuition fees would be waived.

Sports scholarships are awarded to students with an outstanding record in sports. Typically, students who have participated in National and International level competitions conducted by accredited Sports Boards are eligible for these scholarships. Students who have won National level prize would be offered an one time scholarship of Rs 20,000/- in the course fees. Similarly, if any student has won a State level prize would be offered an one time scholarship of Rs 10,000/- in the course fees at the time of joining the course, or in the year which he wins the National or State level prize.

For the student whose overall % marks in the IMU Semester Exam shows the most improvement from Semester to semester, an award of Rs 5000/- each of the Nautical stream and Engineering Stream  will be given annually.

In addition to the above, HIMT has been offering scholarships through professional associations like Nautical Institute& Institute of Marine Engineers every year- The said scholarship is named as HIMT Annual Scholarship which is awarded to the students from economic backward section. IME(I) & NI scholarship is open to the candidates of various institutes at All India level and Southern Part of India respectively.

HIMT provides a scholarship upto 20% of the course fees for various modular courses to the cadets, during the period of undergoing the pres-ea training.

Rs 25000/- tuition fee waiver for all female candidates for all courses.

Since a seafarer is required to constantly keep undergoing various modular courses, simulator based courses  periodically every 5 years, the Revalidation courses, HIMT offers loyalty discounts to candidates undergoing courses at HIMT. There are candidates who have completed over 25 courses at HIMT, from cadetship to Master/Chief Engineer and have been receiving scholarships uptoRs 3000/- for every course done at HIMT.

All pre-sea students will get 5% discount on all post sea course fees till such time as they qualify to the rank of Management level.
