NIT Kurukshetra - Admission 2024, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

NIT Kurukshetra BTech admission is given on the basis of JEE Main scores. The NTA has released the JEE Main session 2 result. Next, JoSSA counselling registration will begin in June for BTech admission at NIT Kurukshetra. 

NIT Kurukshetra was established in 1963. The institute is one of the 30 NITs established and administered by the Government of India and it has the status of ‘Institution of National Importance’. The campus of 300 acres is located in Kurukshetra, Haryana, and is equipped with all amenities like libraries, computer labs, hostels, sports facilities, etc. 

NIT Kurukshetra NIRF Ranking 2023 has been released. The institute has been ranked 58th in the Engineering category. NIT Kurukshetra average package in 2023 was Rs 14.16 LPA for BTech and Rs 7.69 for MBA. The institute offers UG, PG, and PhD courses in the disciplines of engineering, technology, and management. The flagship course of the institute is B.Tech and other courses offered are M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and, PhD. Admission to these courses is based on the scores of the entrance exams like JEE Main, GATE, IIT JAM, CAT, and NIMCET.

NIT Kurukshetra courses are offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and, PhD levels. The courses are offered in the streams of engineering, management, technology, and, computer applications. B.Tech is the flagship course of the institute and is offered in various specialisations like electronics and communication engineering, computer engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, etc. The NIT Kurukshetra fees for the courses range from Rs 45,000 to Rs 5.85 lakh approximately, depending on the course opted for. The NIT Kurukshetra result 2023 for B.Tech admissions will be based on the JEE Main 2023 scores. The JEE Main Session 2 Result for 2023 has been announced on April 29, 2023, by the NTA. the result is available online on the official website of NTA which is nta.nic.in. Candidates will be able to view the results by entering their JEE Main registration ID and password. Students must download their scorecards for further processing.

NIT Kurukshetra Admission Dates 2024: JEE Main

The application process for the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra is very simple. Each of the courses has a different application process for admission. Candidates can check the detailed NIT Kurukshetra application process for every course below:

B.Tech

• Register online for JEE Main exams for B.Tech.
• Enter all personal details and academic details and upload all required documents.
• Make the application fee payments online using a Debit card/ Credit card/ Net banking or UPI payment.
• Screenshot/print the payment success and confirmation page for future reference.

M.Tech

• Register online for the GATE exam.
• Enter the login details and create an id and password.
• Fill up the form by entering personal details and academic details and uploading all required documents.
• Enter the GATE paper (subject) and choice of examination cities.
• After filling, pay the application fee of Rs 1,500 (Rs 750 for female/SC/ST/OBC candidates)
• Screenshot/print the payment success and confirmation page for future reference.

PhD

• Login to the NIT Kurukshetra website and download the application.
• Candidates must address the filled application to The Director NIT Kurukshetra and submit it at the office of the Registrar, Golden Jubilee Administrative Building, NIT Kurukshetra, Kurukshetra- 136119.
• The application fee of Rs 200 must be submitted along with the application in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of the Director, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, payable at Kurukshetra.
• Alternatively, applicants can deposit the fee online using SBI i-collect facility and then attach the receipt along with the application.

MBA

• Login to the institute website and download the NIT Kurukshetra admission form 2023-24 and take print and fill out the form with necessary details.
• Candidates can send the duly filled form to the institute along with the NIT Kurukshetra application fee of Rs 1,000 in the form of a Demand Draft favouring The Director, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, payable at Kurukshetra.

MCA

• Register online for the NIMCET exam.
• Enter the login details and create an id and password.
• After filling out the registration form, candidates must pay the application fee of Rs 2,500 and screenshot/print the payment success and confirmation page for future reference.

The NIT Kurukshetra placement cell has maintained a placement record of 100% with its students receiving job offers from some of the reputed organisations in India and abroad. The institute has a dedicated placement cell which is responsible for organising all the placement-related activities on the campus. The cell conducts mock interviews, skill development training, seminars, industry visits, internships, aptitude tests, etc. 

The NIT Kurukshetra average package for B.Tech is Rs 13.89 lakh per annum. The average package for MBA is Rs 6.19 lakh per annum and Rs 11.16 per annum for MCA. The highest package offered in NIT Kurukshetra placement to UG students is Rs 43.31 lakh per annum and for PG students it was Rs 17 lakh per annum.

The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NITKKR) offers several scholarships to its undergraduate and postgraduate students based on the merit system. Some of the scholarships are listed below:

• Merit scholarship – NITKKR offers 26 merit scholarships each year for a student who is scored more than 60% in the last qualifying semester.
• Merit cum means scholarship – NIT Kurukshetra offers merit cum means scholarship to a student is scored more than 60% in the qualifying exam and whose family has an annual income of less than Rs 2,50,000.
• National scholarship – National scholarship is offered to students whose family has an annual income of less than Rs 2,50,000 and who scored more than 60% in the qualifying exam. The board also awards Rs 300 per month.
• National scholarship for teacher’s school-going children – This NIT Kurukshetra scholarship is for the children of working teachers in any recognized primary/ secondary school; whose annual income of less than Rupees 2,50,000.
• Post matric SC/ST scholarship - It offers post-matric SC/ST scholarships to students of scheduled caste and tribe people whose family’s annual income is less than Rs 2,50,000. The board also offers Rs 425 per month.
• Alumni association scholarship – Alumni association scholarship under NIT Kurukshetra scholarships is offered to B.Tech students of NITKKR in the Civil, Mechanical, Electronics, and Computer science engineering departments. Five NIT Kurukshetra scholarships worth Rs 2,400 per annum are also offered to financially weak students.

The NITKKR campus offers several facilities for the students like hostels, residential sectors, post office, health centre, SBI bank, library, sports complex, laboratories, etc.

• Library – NITKKR has a well-structured library with about 1,00,000 books, 6,000 back volumes, and 3,600 e-books.
• Computer Centre – The centre of Computing and Networking (CCN) is a centralized computer facility for students and staff. The centre has a good internet facility.
• Senate Hall –The main hall to hold conferences, seminars, workshops, etc., is well equipped and used as a lecturing hall by guest faculties and corporate mergers.
• Sports Complex – It includes a badminton court, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball court, cricket ground, football ground, and hockey ground.
• Hostel facility – The institute has 15 hostels. 11 for boys and 4 for girls, with a total capacity of accommodating 610 students.
• Laboratories – The institute has separate labs like Computer Lab, Electronics Lab, Mechanical Lab, VLSI &Embedded Systems Lab.
• Institute also has a health centre, post office, and a branch of SBI banks on campus.

• Techspardha is the annual technical festival of the institute. Technology-based activities and events are organized every year.
• Confluence is the annual cultural festival of the institute. It takes place over three days, with students participating from all over India. 

•  The NIT Kurukshetra NIRF ranking 2023 is 58th for the Engineering category. The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra was ranked 50th by the NIRF Ranking Engineering in 2022. Moreover, the NIRF score for 2023 is 49.89 and for 2022, the score was 50.11.
