GPAT Tie-Breaker Criteria

In the event that two or more candidates achieve the same score in the GPAT Result, a tiebreaker process will be implemented to determine the final result. The tiebreaker criteria will be considered in the following order of priority, listed in descending order:

  1. Marks Obtained in Pharmaceutics: The candidates' scores in the Pharmaceutics section will be evaluated. Those who have obtained higher marks in this subject will be given precedence.

  2. Marks obtained in Pharmaceutical Chemistry: If there is still a tie after considering the Pharmaceutics scores, the candidates' performance in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry section will be compared. The individuals with superior scores in this subject will be favored.

  3. Candidates having fewer negative responses in the paper: If the tie persists, the number of negative responses in the GPAT paper will be considered. Those with a smaller count of incorrect answers will be given preference.

  4. Candidates older in age: If all previous tiebreakers fail to determine a clear winner, the age of the candidates will be considered. The older individuals among the tied candidates will be given an advantage.

Related Questions

How is the final merit list prepared after applying tie-breaker rules?

After resolving ties, the final merit list with ranks is published, which is used for admissions and scholarship allotment.

What happens if the tie still persists after the first rule?

If two candidates still have the same score and equal negative responses, the one with a higher score in specific subject sections (like Pharmaceutics or Pharmacology) will be given preference.

Why is a tie-breaker policy needed in GPAT?

Since GPAT ranks are crucial for admission into M.Pharm courses and for availing scholarships, the tie-breaker ensures a fair ranking system when candidates have identical marks.
