GPAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check GPAT 2021 eligibility criteria before applying for GPAT 2021. It is important to fulfill the eligibility criteria of GPAT 2021 before filling in the GPAT application form. The eligibility criteria include parameters such as age limit, educational qualifications, and nationality which have to be fulfilled. GPAT will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The main criteria is a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

GPAT 2021 admit card will be issued only after the candidates have submitted their application form on time and fulfilled the eligibility criteria specified by NTA. Following is the GPAT 2021 eligibility criteria:


  • Candidate should be a citizen of India.

Age Criteria

  • There is no upper age limit for this examination.

Academic Qualification

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, which means 4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates.
  • Candidates in the final year of B. Pharmacy programme are also eligible to appear for GPAT
  • B. Tech in Pharmaceutical and fine chemical technology/any Equivalent examination candidates are not eligible to appear for GPAT examination.

GPAT Eligibility Criteria for Visually Challenged Candidates

Visually challenged candidates who opt for a reader have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The reader’s academic qualifications should be lower than that of the candidate.

  • He/she cannot be a family member of the candidate.

  • The reader must not be involved in the academic preparation for GPAT 2021.

  • The reader’s age must be less than 19 as on January 17, 2021.

GPAT Eligibility Criteria for PwD Candidates

The PwD categories for GPAT as defined by NTA are given below:

  • Visually impaired
  • Physically handicapped
  • Hearing-impaired
  • Dumb

PwD candidates are given testing assistance and it depends on what the candidate has specified in the application form.

The visually impaired will be offered screen/font enlargement. They are also offered abacus (without the calculator). Screen magnification will be done by the test center whereas the abacus will have to be arranged by the candidate.

Visually impaired as well as candidates who have cerebral palsy will be allowed to have a reader. This has to be arranged by the candidate.

Hearing-impaired candidates will be allowed to have hearing aids, which must be arranged by the candidate.


1. If a candidate has done graduation through part-time or distance learning mode, is he/she eligible to apply for GPAT 2021?

Yes, the candidate can apply as long as the Bachelor's degree is approved by the respective statutory bodies.

2. Will a B. Pharmacy third-year student be eligible for GPAT 2021?

No, B. Pharmacy third-year students are not eligible to appear for the GPAT examination.

3. Can a candidate appear for GPAT 2021 for practice purpose even if he/she is not eligible?

No. Only eligible candidates are allowed to appear for the entrance test.

4. Who is eligible to appear for the test under Physically Disabled category?

As per the “Persons with Disability Act, 1995”, a candidate appearing for GPAT 2021 qualifies to be Physically Disabled (PD) if he/she suffers from any of the below listed disabilities, to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a medical authority. Below mentioned are the categories defined by NTA for PWD candidates: Dumb, Visually impaired, Hearing Impairment, Physically handicapped.
