How to Calculate NEET 2022 Cutoff Percentile

As per the National Testing Agency, a percentile rank depicts the percentage of scores falling below a given score in the group. It applies a formula to determine the NEET cutoff percentile 2022:

Percentile Rank for NEET = (Number of applicants who appeared with a raw score equal to or less than the candidate) / (Total number of appearing applicants) x 100

NEET 2022 Cutoff: Tie-breaking Process

Often it is seen that one or more students end up scoring the same marks in NEET Exams but the ranks received on the final list differ. This is because NEET UG Rank cannot be the same for two aspirants. The exam conducting authority ensures this by applying the NEET Tie-breaking rules in order of preference. These are as follows:

  • The candidate receiving a higher score in Biology is assigned a higher rank

  • The candidate securing more marks in Chemistry is ranked higher

  • The applicant with the lesser number of incorrect answers is given a higher rank

  • If all of the above rules fail to break the tie, the candidate senior in terms of age is positioned at a higher rank

Factors Determining NEET 2022 Cutoff

In case you are wondering why the cutoff tends to vary each year, let us tell you that the NEET cutoff is determined based on a number of factors. These include the following:

  • The total number of candidates applying for the NEET exam in the given year

  • The level of difficulty of the NEET paper in the given year

  • The total number of seats available

  • The category under which admission is sought

Also Read: NEET Passing Marks 2022 - Qualifying Marks, Minimum Marks

NEET 2022 Cutoff Under 15% All India Quota

In India, 15% of the total seats in the government medical and dental colleges are reserved for candidates under the All India Quota. These seats are filled by candidates who qualify for the 15% quota as mentioned on the NEET 2022 Scorecard.

NEET 2022 Cutoff Under 85% State Quota

In all the states across India, 85% of the total medical seats in government colleges are accessible to candidates belonging to the respective state. Therefore, these seats are reserved only for candidates of those particular states. For instance, a candidate taking the NEET exam from West Bengal will be eligible for admission to government colleges in West Bengal under the 85% State quota.

Thus, the NEET 2022 counselling process for admission of aspirants to 85% of the medical college seats under the State quota will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities and will only be open to native candidates.

Validity of NEET Cutoff Marks 2022

Just like everything else in this universe, NEET cutoff scores also come with an expiration date. You cannot use scores of one year for any or every academic year. The scores are only valid for the current academic year. After that, they get expired and cannot be used for the next academic year. For instance, if you appeared in NEET 2022 and scored XYZ scores, you can only get admission based on your marks in the academic year of 2022. The usage of these same scores for 2022 admissions will not be entertained.

NEET Result 2022

Aspirants taking the NTA NEET exam 2022 can access the results on neet.nta.nic.in in the form of a scorecard (PDF) once they are released. To download NEET 2022 result, they will need to enter their DOB, roll number and security pin. The scorecard will feature the following details:

  • Name of the candidate

  • Date of birth

  • NTA NEET Application number

  • NEET All India Rank (AIR)

  • Marks obtained in each subject (PCB)

  • NEET 2022 cutoff

  • Qualifying status

NEET Counselling 2022

NTA will prepare the NEET 2022 merit list based on the ranking of students who qualify the entrance exam. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will then conduct the NEET 2022 counselling for 15% AIQ seats in central/deemed universities, AFMS, ESIC, and central pool seats. The remaining 85% of the seats under the State Quota in government colleges will be allotted by the respective state authorities based on the NEET 2022 scores of candidates. Furthermore, the state counselling body will also grant admission to private dental/medical colleges in the concerned state.

Aspirants should keep a close eye on the NEET 2022 Cutoffs on neet nta nic in. We will also update the same as soon as the official list is out. Till then, stay tuned to CollegeDekho for more information.
