NEET Previous Years’ Cutoff Analysis

Going through the trends in previous years’ cutoff scores of NEET tells that there has been a continuous escalation in the scores. From a cutoff range of 697-131 for the unreserved category in the year 2017, the range has come up to 720-147. Last year, a total of 13.66 lakh students took the test, out of which, about 7.7 lakh students qualified for the examination. Two students out of the pool created history by scoring 720 out of 720 marks. This, along with many other factors caused a substantial increase in the cutoff scores. This year, the registrations are expected to hike at a much higher rate than last year making the competition to be even more difficult. So, expecting the NEET 2021 cutoff scores to be higher than 2020 seems like an obvious thing.

To help you understand these trends better, we have added a graph below comparing the category-wise cutoff scores of previous years.

Validity of NEET Cutoff Marks 2021

Just like everything else in this universe, NEET cutoff scores also come with an expiration date. You cannot use scores of one year for any or every academic year. The scores are only valid for the current academic year. After that, they get expired and cannot be used for the next academic year. For instance, if you appeared in NEET 2021 and scored XYZ scores, you can only get admission based on your marks in the academic year of 2021. The usage of these same scores for 2022 admissions will not be entertained.
