NEET UG 2019 Merit List

National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the NEET 2019 merit list which will be used by the NEET 2019 Counselling bodies to select eligible candidates for admission into BDS and MBBS courses at various NEET 2019 participating colleges. The NEET 2019 merit list will contain important information score, rank, roll number etc of the NEET 2019 qualified candidates. The names of those candidates will appear on top of the NEET 2019 merit list who have cleared the examination with the minimum percentile. The NEET 2019 merit list will be provided to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) who is responsible to conduct the Centralised Counselling Process (CCP). The NEET 2019 merit list will be further forwarded to the counselling bodies of the respective states and Union Territories by the DGHS. The merit list of NEET 2019 will be released by the States and Union Territories for the reason of inviting application forms.

NEET 2019 exam was conducted on 05 May 2019 and the admit card of NEET 2019 was released by NTA on 15 April 2019. The merit list will also contain the names of those candidates who have cleared the NEET UG 2019 exam.

Types of NEET 2019 Merit List

There are three types of NEET 2019 merit list and all of them are prepared by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The NEET 2019 merit lists will display the overall positions secured by the candidates in the entrance exam. All the types of NEET 2019 merit lists are explained below:

All India NEET 2019 Merit List

The All India NEET 2019 merit list will include the names of those candidates who appeared for the NEET 2019 entrance examination. The All India NEET 2019 merit list will display the overall positions obtained by the candidates. The names of all the candidates will appear in this list irrespective of their qualifying status and the state they belong.

AIQ NEET 2019 Merit List

The AIQ NEET 2019 merit list will contain the names of those candidates who have cleared the NEET 2019 examination and do not belong from Jammu & Kashmir. Those candidates who belong to the state of Jammu & Kashmir who have signed the declaration form during the filling up of the NEET 2019 application form step will find their names in the AIQ NEET 2019 merit list. The counselling process involving these candidates will be conducted by DGHS instead of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

NEET 2019 State Merit List

Based on the All India Rank secured by the candidates in the NEET 2019 exam, the counselling conducting authorities of the states and the union territories will prepare a NEET merit list of their own. The inclusion of a candidate’s name in the state NEET 2019 merit list depends upon various factors such as

  • From which State or Union Territory the candidate have appeared for NEET 2019 exam

  • From which State or Union Territory the candidate have completed his/her 12th (according to the details mentioned in the NEET 2019 application form

Only those candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria laid down by the states/union territories can apply for the counselling process to be conducted by the state/union territories counselling bodies. The state/union territory counselling body will first of all release the applicant list of the eligible candidates.

NEET 2019 Merit List Tie-Breaking Policy

The NEET 2019 merit list tie-breaking policy will come into effect where two or more candidates secure the same marks in the entrance examination. The following factors will determine which candidate will have preference over the other:

  • The marks obtained by the candidates in the Biology section of the NEET 2019 exam will be compared first. A candidate who has secured more marks in Biology will be given preference (Botany & Zoology)

  • In case the tie still persists, the marks obtained in the Chemistry section will be used as a comparison tool. Candidates with higher marks in Chemistry will be preferred first

  • The candidates with a fewer number of wrong answers will be preferred over others in case the tie still exists

  • If all the other tie-breaking factors fail to produce a result, the age factor will be considered by the authorities where older age candidates will have preference over the younger candidates
