Types of NEET Merit List 2023

There are three types of NEET 2023 merit list and all of them are prepared by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)/ DMER. The NEET merit list 2023 will comprise final positions secured by the candidates in the entrance exam. All the types of NEET merit list 2023 are explained below:

The All India NEET-UG merit list 2023 includes the names of those candidates who appeared for the NEET 2023 entrance examination. The All India NEET merit list 2023 will display the overall positions obtained by the candidates. The names of all the candidates will appear in this list irrespective of their qualifying status and the state they belong.

AIQ NEET Merit List 2023

The AIQ NEET 2023 merit list will contain the names of those candidates who have cleared the NEET 2023 examination and do not belong to Jammu & Kashmir. Those candidates who belong to the state of Jammu & Kashmir and who have signed the declaration form during the filling up of the NEET 2023 application form step will find their names in the AIQ NEET 2023 merit list. The others won't. The counselling process involving these candidates will be conducted by DGHS instead of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

NEET 2023 State Merit List

Based on the All India Rank secured by the candidates in the NEET 2023 exam, the counselling conducting authorities of the states and the union territories will prepare a NEET merit list of their own. The inclusion of a candidate’s name in the state NEET 2023 merit list depends upon various factors such as

  • From which State or Union Territory does the candidate have appeared for NEET UG 2023 exam

  • From which State or Union Territory the candidate have completed his/her 12th (according to the details mentioned in the NEET 2023 application form

Only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the states/ union territories can apply for the counselling process to be conducted by the state/union territories. The state/ union territory counselling body will release the final applicant list of all eligible candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET Merit List 2023

Candidates need to fulfill certain criteria to be considered eligible for the NEET merit list 2023. Those who don’t fall under this set of rules are not considered for further rounds. So, here are the Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2023 Merit List all India.
Qualifying Marks
To be considered eligible for NEET 2023 merit list, general category candidates must have scored at least 50% in the NEET exams. Aspirants falling under SC, ST, and OBC categories should have secured at least 40% marks. Similarly, the physically handicapped general category test-takers need 45% in NTA NEET exam. 

Aspirants should be of a minimum age of 17 years by December 31, 2023. As per the interim order of the honorary supreme court, there is no age limit established for the NEET 2023 exam.

Education Qualification
Aspirants should have studied from the Science stream with Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Biotechnology as a compulsory subject. Moreover, aspirants who have biology as their optional subject are also allowed to appear for the NEET 2023 entrance examination. Aspirants who are giving the Class XII examination can also attempt the NEET 2023 test. They will be granted admission on a provisional basis.

Merit List for 85% Seats Other Than All India Quota Seats

Aspirants who have secured the minimum cutoff score and made it to the NEET merit list 2023 are considered eligible for 85% seats other than AIQ. As soon as the official NEET 2023 merit list is released, concerned authorities of different institutes release their own cutoff and merit list basis All India Ranks. Tie-Breaking Policy of NEET 2023 Merit List

In the event that two or more candidates achieve the same scores in the entrance examination, the following tie-breaking rules will be implemented:

  1. Biology Marks: Preference will be given to aspirants who have obtained higher scores in Biology in the NEET 2023 results.
  2. Chemistry Marks: If the aforementioned criterion fails to resolve the tie, priority will be given to candidates with higher scores in Chemistry.
  3. Fewer Incorrect Marks: If the tie persists, the candidate with a lower number of incorrect answers in NEET 2023 will be given a higher rank compared to others.
  4. Age Factor: According to the latest NEET UG 2023 update, the age factor will no longer be used to break ties. However, it will be taken into consideration starting from the second round of NEET counseling.

No. 256 score is well below the cutoff mark level of the Govt. Thiruvarur Medical College. Students must score at least 600-625 marks to be considered for a seat at this college. Even after using the reservation criteria, getting a seat with 256 marks is not possible. Instead, you can try opting for these colleges in Tamil Nadu.
