What is the lowest rank to get into IIT: Admission in an IIT is a dream come true for most aspiring engineers. Nevertheless, getting a lower rank in JEE Advanced exam may always disappoint the student. With that said, it is worth noting that several IITs and individual branches offer admission opportunities even at relatively lower ranks. Generally, even a JEE Advanced score between 15,000 and 25,000 can get to qualify to be accepted into colleges like IIT Bhilai, IIT Goa and IIT Tirupati. Examples of these branches that tend to rank highly in the closing order are Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Chemical Engineering. To learn more about the lowest rank to secure an entry into an IIT, refer to the below article.

Factors Affecting the Lowest Rank for IIT Admission
Among the factors that can impact the lowest ranking in admission to IIT are the following.
1. Branch demand: The streams that have the highest number of students like CE, ME and ECE are in high demand, thereby increasing the chances of such streams receiving more students and hence cut off rank is competitive.
2. Available number of seats in a given branch: Branches with small number of seats can be easily closed. Thus, when there is a lower demand in a stream, there is also the likelihood that it will have a low cut off rank.
3. Old vs new IITs: Old IITs, e.g., IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur, tend to have higher ranks in their admission, whereas new IITs, e.g., IIT Mandi, IIT Jammu and IIT Goa are likely to take lower ranks to obtain an IIT admission.
4. General level of difficulty of JEE Advanced: The general level of difficulty of the JEE Advanced question paper also influences the cutoff score and it determines the type of IITs who are going to be accepting low ranks to achieve admission in the institute. Are you feeling lost and unsure about what career path to take after completing 12th standard?
