The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra conducts Maharashtra M.Tech Admission every year. The candidates for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2020 will be divided into various candidatures (from Type A to Type E). Each type of candidate will have different eligibility criteria to be counted in that particular type. Also, one candidate can be allotted only one type.

Reservation Policy for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission 2020
The candidates who belong to the Maharashtra state will be provided with the reservation at the time of CAP application form submission for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2020. Merit List for Maharashtra M.Tech Counselling 2020
After the application submission is over, the admission authority will release the Maharashtra M.Tech Admission Merit List 2020. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the application submitted and consists of the name of candidates who have been shortlisted for the counseling process. Through the Maharashtra M.Tech Admission Merit List 2020, each shortlisted applicant will be allotted a merit number. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained by the candidates in GATE as well as the qualifying exam. Initially, the admission authority will release a provisional merit list. If the candidates find any discrepancy in the provisional merit list, they can raise the objection before the prescribed last date. After evaluating & cross-examining all the objections, the admission authority will release the final merit list. The candidates cannot raise objections to the final merit list.
Tie Breaking Policy
In case any two or more candidates get the same merit number, the final decision will be made on the basis of a certain tie-breaking policy. The tie-breaking policy components in the order of preference for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission Merit List 2020 is listed below:

Maharashtra M.Tech Counselling Process 2020
The Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2020 will be done through a Centralised Admission Process (CAP). The CAP will be conducted in three rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3. There will be several processes included in the CAP process for admission as explained in detail below:

Step 1: Registration | Initially, the candidates will have to register for the CAP process online. Only the candidates who have filled the application form will be eligible for the counseling process. |
Step 2: Document Verification | After the application form, the candidates will have to get their documents verified by visiting the facilitation centers. The candidates will have to submit the duly filled application form and the original + xerox copy of all the mentioned documents. After document verification, the Facilitation Centre In-charge will confirm the verification through the online system and provide the candidates with receipt cum acknowledgment of the application form. Note that the candidates cannot change their information in the application form after the documents verification. |
Step 3: Release of Provisional & Final Merit List | Further, the admission authority will release the provisional merit list containing the merit number for all the shortlisted candidates. If the applicants find any discrepancy in the provisional merit list, they can raise the objection before the final date. Finally, the admission department will release the final merit list on the official website. |
Step 4: Display of Category Wise Seat Matrix | The admission authority will release the category wise seat matrix for the participating institutes. The list will consist of the details of the respective institute, courses offered, number of available seats, and total intakes for each category. The category-wise seat matrix will be released before each CAP round. |
Step 5: Online Choice Filling & Locking | It is mandatory for the candidates to fill their choices of courses & institutes before each CAP round on the basis of the released seat matrix. The candidates can fill a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 300 choices in the decreasing order of preference. The seat allotment will be done on the basis of filled choices. The candidates will also have to lock their final choices before the final date. |
Step 6: Provisional Seat Allotment | The provisional seat allotment will be done on the basis of choices filled by the candidates. The candidates will have to visit the Admission Reporting Centre and confirm their seats on the prescribed date & time. |
Step 7: CAP Round I | The seats available for the CAP round I will be published on the official website.

Step 8: CAP Round II | The seats available for the CAP round II will be published on the official website. The further process will be the same as CAP Round I explained above. |
Step 9: CAP Round III | The seats available for the CAP round III will be published on the official website. The third round will be final and there will be no subsequent counseling rounds. |
Step 10: Reporting to Institute | The candidates will have to visit the allotted institutes for the admission formalities. After the documents verification and paying the admission fee, the admission will be completed. |
