Type of Candidate Maharashtra M.Tech Admission 2024

The candidates for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024 will be divided into various candidatures (from Type A to Type E). Each type of candidate will have different eligibility criteria to be counted in that particular type. Also, one candidate can be allotted only one type.

The different candidature types of Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024 along with their eligibility are explained below:

In this type, the candidates who have passed their 12th/ Diploma from an institute in Maharashtra are included. The candidates should have a domicile of Maharashtra.

Type B

For type B, the candidates who do not fall in type A but whose parents have domicile in Maharashtra state are included.

Type C

The candidates who do not fall under Type A or Type B but whose parents work for the Indian Government sector and have been posted in Maharashtra state at the time of filling out the application form.

Type D

The candidates do not fall under Type A, B, or C but their mother/father is a retired employee of a Government of Maharashtra undertaking.

Type E

In this type, the candidates who have passed their 12th/ Diploma from an institute from the disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border area or Maharashtra are included. The candidates should reside in the disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border area and should have their mother tongue as Marathi.

Maharashtra M.Tech Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should be aware of the detailed eligibility criteria of Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024 before filling out the application form. The candidate who does not adhere to the required eligibility criteria will not be considered for admission.

The Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024 eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

  • The candidate should have passed a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Pharmacy / Architecture from an AICTE or central/ state government-approved institution
  • The candidate should have acquired an overall aggregate of 50% (45% for reserved and physically disabled candidates of Maharashtra state) in the qualifying examination
  • The candidate should have scored a non-zero score in the GATE exam
  • For the sponsored candidates, the candidate should have 2 years of minimum work experience in a registered firm recognized by the Government
  • The Candidate should be an Indian National.

Maharashtra M.Tech Counselling 2024 Registration

The registration for Maharashtra M.Tech Counselling is ongoing on the official website till July 17, 2024. The candidates who want to get admission through the Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling are required to submit an online application form. Only the candidates who have submitted the application form will be eligible for the counselling process. It is also advised for the candidates to go through the detailed eligibility criteria before filling up the application form of Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024.

Steps to Fill Application Form for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024

The candidates can follow the given steps to fill out the application form for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024:

  1. Go to www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in and click on the link for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024.
  2. Register on the portal using your email ID and contact number. Make sure that it’s your working email address and phone number as you will be receiving all the further notifications on provided numbers only.
  3. After successful registration, fill out the application form using all the required information. Enter the same information as you filled in the GATE entrance exam.
  4. Upload the required documents scanned in the prescribed format.
  5. Pay the application fee using debit/ credit/ net banking to complete the registration.
  6. Download the application form and save it for future reference.

Maharashtra M.Tech Admission 2024 Reservation Policy

The candidates who belong to the Maharashtra state will be provided with the reservation at the time of CAP application form submission of Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024. The reservation percentage represents the seats reserved for the candidates from the specified category. The candidates who wish to claim the seat reservation will have to submit the required documents at the time of filling out the application form. Note that, all the candidates from outside the Maharashtra state will be considered as the general category candidates.

Maharashtra M.Tech Counselling 2024 Merit List

After the application submission is over, the admission authority releases the Maharashtra M.Tech Admission Merit List. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the application submitted and consists of the names of candidates who have been shortlisted for the counselling process. Through the Maharashtra M.Tech Admission Merit List 2024, each shortlisted applicant will be allotted a merit number. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained by the candidates in GATE as well as the qualifying exam.

Tie Breaking Policy

In case any two or more candidates get the same merit number, the final decision will be made on the basis of a certain tie-breaking policy. The tie-breaking policy components in the order of preference for Maharashtra M.Tech Admission Merit List 2024 is listed below:

  1. Higher percentage in 12th

  2. Higher percentage in 10th

  3. Higher score in Science Subject in 10th

  4. Higher score in Mathematics Subject in 10th

  5. Higher score in English Subject in 10th

Maharashtra M.Tech Counselling Process 2024

The Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024 will be done through a Centralised Admission Process (CAP). The CAP will be conducted in three rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3. There will be several processes included in the CAP process for admission as explained in detail below:

Step 1: Registration

Initially, the candidates will have to register for the CAP process online. Only the candidates who have filled out the application form will be eligible for the counselling process.

Step 2: Document Verification

After the application form, the candidates will have to get their documents verified by visiting the facilitation centers. The candidates will have to submit the duly filled application form and the original + Xerox copy of all the mentioned documents. After document verification, the Facilitation Centre In-charge will confirm the verification through the online system and provide the candidates with a receipt cum acknowledgment of the application form.

Note that the candidates cannot change their information in the application form after the document verification.

Step 3: Release of Provisional & Final Merit List

Further, the admission authority will release the provisional merit list containing the merit number for all the shortlisted candidates. If the applicants find any discrepancy in the provisional merit list, they can raise the objection before the final date.

Finally, the admission department will release the final merit list on the official website.

Step 4: Display of Category Wise Seat Matrix

The admission authority will release the category-wise seat matrix for the participating institutes. The list will consist of the details of the respective institute, courses offered, the number of available seats, and total intakes for each category.

The category-wise seat matrix will be released before each CAP round.

Step 5: Online Choice Filling & Locking

It is mandatory for the candidates to fill their choices of courses & institutes before each CAP round on the basis of the released seat matrix. The candidates can fill a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 300 choices in decreasing order of preference. The seat allotment will be done on the basis of filled choices.

The candidates will also have to lock their final choices before the final date.

Step 6: Provisional Seat Allotment

The provisional seat allotment will be done on the basis of choices filled by the candidates. The candidates will have to visit the Admission Reporting Centre and confirm their seats on the prescribed date & time.

Step 7: CAP Round I

The seats available for the CAP round I will be published on the official website.

  • The seats of the candidates who are allotted the seats as per their first preference will be auto frozen. Such candidates will not be allowed to participate in the subsequent counselling rounds. Further, the candidates will have to visit the ARC to get their documents verified and pay the seat acceptance fee. In case the candidate did not accept the seat by visiting the ARC, his/ her seat will be rejected.

  • In case a student has been allotted seats other than the first preference and still wants to freeze it, he/ she will have to visit the ARC and pay the seat acceptance fee. Such candidates will be eligible for further CAP rounds for betterment.

  • The candidates who have not been allotted seats as per their first preference and who haven’t confirmed their seats by visiting the ARC will be eligible to sit in the further CAP rounds.

Step 8: CAP Round II

The seats available for CAP round II will be published on the official website. The further process will be the same as CAP Round I explained above.

Step 9: CAP Round III

The seats available for CAP round III will be published on the official website. The third round will be final and there will be no subsequent counselling rounds.

Step 10: Reporting to Institute

The candidates will have to visit the allotted institutes for admission formalities. After the documents verification and paying the admission fee, the admission will be completed.

The candidates will have to submit the following documents for the Maharashtra M.Tech Admission/ Counselling 2024 along with the application form for verification: -

  • Graduation Mark Sheet & Certificates

  • 12th/ Diploma Mark Sheet

  • 10th Mark Sheet
