What After NEET 2022 - Answer Key

Every year, NEET is followed by the release of the answer key on the NTA official website. Once the NEET 2022 answer key is out, NTA gives the examinees a provision to challenge the document. After scrutinizing all the claims and correcting the answer key, if needed, the conducting authority releases an updated answer key. Students can calculate their estimated NEET scores by analyzing the answer key. Once they have the scores calculated, they need not wait for the results to get published. Students can right away check their ranks with the help of CollegeDekho’s Rank Predictor tool.

What After NEET 2022 – Result/Scorecard

The NEET 2022 result is released tentatively a month after the exam. Once NTA publishes the NEET scorecard 2022 on its official website, students can then check their actual rank and find out which colleges they have a chance of getting a seat in.

The NEET Scorecard 2022 features the following details:

  • Name of the candidate

  • Application number

  • Roll number

  • Personal details – DOB, gender, nationality, category etc.

  • Percentiles score

  • Total marks obtained

  • Qualifying status

  • NEET cutoff 2022

  • NEET 2022 All India Rank

  • NEET AIR for 15% AIQ seats

What After NEET 2022 – Cutoff

After releasing the result for NEET 2022, the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) and different state counselling conducting authorities publish category-wise NEET cutoff lists for admission. These lists include the minimum score one must have obtained in the examination and the last rank required for MBBS/BDS admissions.

What After NEET 2022 – Merit List

The NEET 2022 merit list is released shortly after the results are announced. Candidates are shortlisted based on the scores and ranks achieved in the NTA NEET exam. Only those students who qualify the NEET cutoff 2022 and make it to the list will be eligible for the counselling process.

What After NEET 2022 – Counselling Process

This section provides an overview of the NEET 2022 counselling, which is likely to commence within a month of the result announcement. Two types of seats are offered to eligible candidates through NEET counselling. These are described below:

AIQ (All India Quota) Counselling

The AIQ (All India Counselling) is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on the behalf of MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).

  • Through this counselling process, 15 per cent of the total seats in govt medical and dental colleges of India are filled.

  • All the Deemed and Central universities like AMU (Aligarh Muslim University), AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) and BHU (Banaras Hindu University) will be included in the process.

  • Colleges from all states except Jammu and Kashmir will participate in the process as J&K has opted out of it. Here, the counselling will be done under the State Quota scheme only.

  • For application to the AIQ counselling, you will either have to apply through the official website of MCC or DGHS.

State Quota Counselling

Under this counselling, 85 per cent of the seats in state medical and dental colleges are filled.

  • The State Quota counselling is conducted by different authorities in different states.

  • One of the most important criteria for this counselling is that you must be holding the domicile of that particular state.

  • However, some of the private colleges may prove to be a boon to students as they accept students irrespective of their state of residence.

Find out more about the NEET 2022 counselling process of your state in the table below.

Step-by-Step NEET 2022 Counselling Process

The NEET counselling process will be held in three rounds, including a mop-up round. Let’s discuss the steps of the counselling process in detail.

Step 1 – Registration

To commence the NEET 2022 counselling process, candidates will have to complete the registration process. For this, one has to log in to the MCC/State authority portal and enter their personal details to register afresh. Since the counselling will be held online, students will need to fill out the online registration form before moving on to the next step.

Step 2 – Choice Filling & Locking

After successful registration, candidates will have to select the colleges from the list provided and enter the names as per their preference. This is called the choice filling. They can choose as many colleges as they want and change the order as per their wish. However, to lock these choices, candidates will have to pay a certain amount as the counselling fee. Once the choices are locked, students will not have the option of changing or modifying the order or names of colleges.

Step 3 – Seat Allotment

Next, candidates will be allocated seats after each round of counselling as per their performance in the examination and the preferences they entered at the time of choice filling. However, it may not always be that students get their preferred college/course. In such cases, a candidate can reapply for fresh colleges in the next round of counselling.

Step 4 – Enrollment

Finally, candidates get enrolled in one of the participating NEET colleges as per their performance. The admission is only confirmed after candidates pay the admission fee amount and reserve a seat for themselves.

Course Options Without NEET Result 2022

Having a practical approach to things is always a smart move. With a huge number of applicants and the difficulty level of the exam, it may not be possible for each and every student to grab a seat in the MBBS course through NEET. So, it is important that you know what to do if you are unable to qualify NEET 2022

Firstly, candidates can either dedicate another year in preparation, as done by a huge number of aspirants and apply for the exam next year. Secondly, students can go for alternative course options other than MBBS/BDS or courses available for candidates with low rank in NEET UG. There are several course options available for students who are unable to crack NEET or have poor marks to get them through a good college. Some of the popular course options are B.Sc. Nursing, Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy (BOT) or Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy, among others. Be it option 1 or 2, if you are dedicated to achieving your goal, you are destined to make it.
