DTE MP BE/BTech Admission 2026: BE and B.Tech admissions in Madhya Pradesh are done based on JEE Main scores or qualifying exam scores, followed by the DTE MP centralised counselling process. The initial rounds of MP BE/B.Tech counselling are based on JEE Main 2026 scores, while the later rounds also consider qualifying exam (Class 12) scores for seats that remain vacant. Since Madhya Pradesh does not conduct its own state engineering entrance exam, JEE Main remains the primary gateway for MP B.Tech admission 2026.
The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Madhya Pradesh is responsible for conducting Madhya Pradesh B.E admissions across government, autonomous, aided, and private engineering colleges in the state. We have provided the direct link to DTE BE/B.Tech counselling below:

Eligibility Criteria for Madhya Pradesh BE Admissions 2026
Getting your eligibility right is the very first step — and many students lose their seats simply because they miss one of these requirements. Here is what you need to know:
1. Domicile Requirement: 90% of seats in BE colleges across the state are reserved for Madhya Pradesh domicile/resident students. Additionally, only MP domicile students will be considered for the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme. Non-domicile students can apply under the remaining seats, which are distributed as follows: Government and Government-Aided colleges reserve 5% of seats for non-MP domicile students under the All-India quota, while private unaided colleges can allocate up to 25% of seats to non-MP domicile candidates.
2. Entrance Exam: You must have a valid JEE Main 2026 score to be eligible for the first two rounds of admission. Students without a JEE Main score can also apply for MP B.E. admission, but only for seats that remain vacant after JEE Main counselling is complete, in which case Class 12 merit is used to prepare a separate merit list.
3. Academic Requirements: Candidates must have scored at least 45% (General category) or 40% (SC/ST/OBC of MP) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
Note: Biology, Biotechnology, or Computer Science may substitute Chemistry as the fourth subject alongside Physics and Mathematics. If you have 'Grace Marks' in Physics or Maths, some autonomous colleges like SGSITS may require additional manual verification at a Help Centre.
4. Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 17 years of age. There is no upper age limit for DTE MP B.Tech admission.
5. Important for MP Domicile Students – TFW Scheme: The Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme allows students with a family income below ₹8 Lakhs per annum to study engineering without paying tuition fees. To avail this benefit, you must select "Yes" for TFW during registration and upload a valid Income Certificate. TFW seats are allotted before general seats in the counselling process, which means your JEE Main rank needs to be highly competitive to secure admission under this category.
MP BE/B.Tech Counselling Registration Fee 2026
The total registration fee for DTE MP counselling is ₹1,530. Based on the 2025 fee structure (which is expected to remain unchanged for 2026 until official confirmation), this breaks down as follows:
- Registration Fee: ₹400
- Portal Fee: ₹130
- Adjustable Part Tuition Fee: ₹1,000
The ₹1,000 component is adjustable, meaning it is deducted from your college fee at the time of final admission. The remaining fee of ₹530 is non-refundable. Payment can be made online via net banking, credit card, debit card, or through the Paytm gateway, or offline in cash at MP Online Kiosks or DTE Help Centres across the state.
Note: Always verify the final fee on the official DTE MP portal once the 2026 notification is released, as minor revisions are possible.
Pro-Tip: If your payment fails at an MP Online Kiosk, ensure you get a 'Transaction Failure' slip. Do not pay again until you verify your status via the 'Check Transaction' link on the portal.
MP BE/B.Tech Application Process 2026
The DTE MP B.E/B.Tech admission process 2026 usually includes the following steps:
Step 1- Registration: DTE MP BE registration 2026 will commence on the official website dte.mponline.gov.in. You will be required to register using your JEE Main 2026 roll number, after which certain pre-filled data from NTA will appear in your form. You will then need to enter your name, email ID, mobile number, and create a password. Upon first login, you must change your password to secure your application.
Step 2- Application Form Filling 2026: Following the completion of registration, you will be required to submit a DTE MP application form. You will be required to submit academic details, qualifications, domicile, etc.
Step 3- Uploading of Documents and Pictures: The next step is to upload your scanned photographs and documents as asked by DTE MP. You must ensure that you meet the image and document requirements properly.
Step 4- Application Form Fee Payment: Now, you are required to pay the prescribed application fee for DET MP B.E/B.Tech. You can make the fee payment online using net banking, credit card/debit card, etc. You will be required to keep a receipt of the application fee with you for future reference.
Step 5- Submission of Application Form: Once you have successfully submitted the application fee, the application form will be submitted automatically. You will also receive a confirmation via email and text message.
MP BE/B.Tech Admission and Selection Process 2026
The B.E. admission procedure in Madhya Pradesh involves different stages. As the admissions are completely based on merit, preparation of a merit list or rank list, and declaration of opening and closing ranks are some of the steps involved in the admission process. The B.E admission process of Madhya Pradesh is broadly divided into two categories –
Madhya Pradesh B.E Admission Procedure through JEE Main:
JEE Main score is the major criterion for B.E admission in Madhya Pradesh. DTE MP will come up with a separate merit list of the students who have applied for B.E admission with a valid JEE Main score.
Madhya Pradesh B.E Admission Procedure through 10+2 Merit:
Students who do not have a valid JEE Main score can compete for B.E admission in Madhya Pradesh through 10+2 merit. DTE MP will release a separate merit list for 10+2 pass-outs, and all the students who feature in the merit list will be considered for seat allotment, subject to the availability of seats in specific colleges and courses.
MP BE/B.Tech Counselling Process 2026
The DTE MP 2026 counselling is a centralised online process conducted for admissions to government engineering colleges, private and unaided engineering colleges, and state universities in Madhya Pradesh. All students must participate in this counselling to secure a B.E. seat. The process is conducted in multiple rounds, and here is how it works in practice:
After registration and document verification, you will be given an online slip. However, if you complete registration but cannot get documents verified online, you will need to visit a DTE Help Centre in person (such as those at Jabalpur Engineering College or UIT-RGPV in Bhopal) for physical verification. Only after successful document verification will you be allowed to participate in choice filling.
In each round, DTE MP will release a seat allotment result based on your choices, category, and rank. You will then be required to either confirm your seat or opt for upgradation.
Expert's Tip: Understanding the Upgradation Round
Many students lose out on their preferred seat simply because they do not understand how the Upgradation Round works. If you receive your third college/branch preference in Round 1, do not freeze your seat just yet if you were hoping for your first or second choice. Instead, opt for "Upgradation." Here is the key part, if the system does not find a better seat for you in the next round, your original allotment (the third choice) remains safe and is not cancelled.
However, there is a critical deadline to keep in mind. If you do not lock your choices before the designated deadline (expected around July 2026, check official notification for exact date), the system will automatically lock your last saved preferences. Missing this window can seriously affect your final allotment, so set reminders well in advance. Also, once you lock choices in any round, they cannot be changed. So review your preference list carefully before submitting.
Additionally, after your final seat allotment, you can also opt for Internal Branch Sliding within the same institute (for a portal fee of ₹100), which gives you one more chance to move to a higher-demand branch if a seat opens up due to student dropouts.
Documents Required for DTE MP B.E/ B.Tech Counselling 2026

Solving Common DTE MP Portal Issues
Before you panic, here are the most common problems candidates face and what to do about them:
Document Verification Status Showing 'Pending': If your verification status has not updated to 'Verified' within 48 hours of submitting documents online, visit the nearest DTE Help Centre in person. Major Help Centres are available at institutions like Jabalpur Engineering College and UIT-RGPV, Bhopal. Carry all original documents.
Payment Failed but Amount Deducted: If the ₹1,530 payment fails but your bank account shows a deduction, do not panic and do not immediately re-attempt the payment. Wait for 24 hours, DTE MP typically reconciles failed transactions overnight. If the amount is not refunded or credited within 72 hours, contact the MP Online helpline with your transaction ID.
Pre-filled JEE Main Data Mismatch: If your NTA-provided data appears incorrect in the registration form, do not proceed. Contact the DTE MP helpline immediately, as any mismatch in roll number, name, or date of birth can affect your merit list placement.
