Ranchi University admission process is based on a candidate's entrance exam score. The university accepts some of the popular national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, CUET UG, CUET PG, NEET UG, NEET PG, CAT, MAT, CMAT, GATE, and many others. Students must also note that the university conducts its own entrance exam for admission to some of the courses available at Ranchi University, such as BBA LLB, LLM, and PhD. 

Ranchi University offers scholarships to economically disadvantaged students. Two eligible BPL students in each PG department receive scholarships worth Rs 500 in every academic session. At the university, students can choose from a wide range of UG, PG, PG Diploma, and PhD courses, such as BTech, MBA, LLB, LLM, BBA LLB, MCom, MBBS, MD/MS, and many others.
