  • Pursue a degree: To become a fashion designer, students have to opt for undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses in fashion design from the top colleges of the country such as NIFT Delhi, NIFT Mumbai, PAF and more. They can pursue an undergraduate design course such as BSc, BA, etc or diploma courses. 
  • Appear for entrance exam: Secondly, they need to sit for design entrance exams as per the institutes such as NIFT, UCEED, CEED, NID, AIEED and others.

  • Sit for the entrance exam: Candidates must note that admission to fashion management is mostly based on the merit score of the entrance exam. For eg, NIFT admissions require a NIFT MFM entrance exam. Being the sole selection procedure for this course, candidates must also remember that NIFT offers primarily fashion management courses. Apart from NIFT MFM entrance, other institutes also accept scores of CAT, MAT and GMAT.
