Alternative Exams Other Than GATE

List of Alternative Options for M.Tech Admission: Around 8 to 10 lakh students appear for one of the biggest postgraduate engineering exams in India - GATE every year and it is a no-brainer that not all of them are going to secure a seat in their desired colleges. The reason? Well, first of all, there are a limited number of seats available in the GATE 2024 participating colleges . Second, the competition in the GATE 2025 exam is pretty stiff. Even though some GATE rank holders are picked up by various PSUs, the seat-to-student ratio of the participating colleges is pretty low.

So what happens to those students who are unable to clear GATE 2025? Does their road end here? Well, here we come aboard with this piece containing the list of alternatives for M Tech aspirants who are unable to clear the GATE examination. This article contains a list of all the popular state-level M.Tech entrance exams as well as some popular self-financing M.Tech colleges and their admission processes.

AP PGECET 2025 exam

  • B.E/B.Tech degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university

OJEE 2025 exam

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
  • At least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam
  • A, B, C, D, F - 1000/-
  • E - 1500/-

TS PGECET 2025 exam

  • Student must be an Indian citizen
  • Only for residents of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
  • The minimum qualifying exam aggregate marks should be 50%
  • SC/ST/PwD - 500/-
  • Others - 1000/-

Gujarat PGCET 2025 exam

  • Bachelor’s degree from Engineering stream in a relevant discipline from a recognized university

What are the other entrance exam for GATE 2025?

Besides GATE there are several other entrance exam also held for M.Tech admission. Some of the state level M.Tech entrance exams are TS PGECET, Gujarat PGCET, OJEE,  AP PGECET, etc. There are institute level M.Tech entrance exam too in which you can appear like SRMJEEE PG and BITS HD exam.

What if my GATE 2025 exam is not cleared?

If you didn't pass in the GATE 2025 exam there is no need to worry. You can take M.Tech admission without GATE also. There are other M.Tech entrance exams held like BITS HD 2025 exam, SRMJEEE PG, Gujarat PGCET, etc. that you can appear in. Some colleges also offers direct M.Tech admission without GATE too in which you can apply for.

If you mistakenly uploaded a wrong document (like a voter ID with the incorrect birth date) during the JEE Main application correction window and now need to upload the correct document showing your accurate date of birth, you should immediately log in to your JEE Main candidate portal using your application number and password during the open correction period. Go to the ‘Application Form Correction’ section where you initially uploaded the documents.
