There are several entrance exams which the aspirants can apply for to get admissions into some of the Reputed Engineering colleges/universities in India. Categories of Engineering Entrance Exams After 12th

In India, engineering entrance exams after 12th are categorised on the basis of location and colleges. There are two major types of engineering colleges in India: Government and Private colleges. Further, the government colleges are classified into two categories: State level and central level government colleges. Thus, based on these classifications, there are three types of engineering entrance exams which are conducted in India which are:

National Level Entrance Test: These tests are conducted all over India for getting admissions into various central/state government & private engineering colleges.

State Level Entrance Test: These tests are conducted within states for getting admissions into state government and private colleges in specific states.

College/University Level Entrance Test: These tests are conducted by the private universities for getting admissions into that particular engineering college/university.

How to Choose the Best Engineering Entrance Exam after Class 12th?

The choice of students for a specific engineering entrance exam must depend on their relocating and other requirements. For instance, students seeking admission into IITs or NITs must go for JEE MAINS and JEE Advanced for getting admissions into these colleges. Similarly, if any student wants to pursue B.Tech in Agriculture and Allied Sciences can apply for ICAR AIEEA to get admissions into India’s topmost agricultural institutes such as Indian Agricultural Research Institute, National Dairy Research Institute, etc. Meanwhile, the students must also be ready to relocate as per the colleges allotted to them at the time of counselling. These colleges also provide various accommodation or hostel facilities to the students if required. Meanwhile, there are other private colleges also which offer admissions into engineering programs without a JEE score.

However, there are some students who seek for pursuing engineering in a college located in their state only. For instance, if a student from Karnataka wants to get admission in engineering into the Bangalore Institute of Technology, then he/she can apply for KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test). This way, the student will also be able to attain 15% reservation for rural students who have studied from class 1st to 10th in Karnataka state. Similarly, if any student seeks for admission into engineering for Integral University, rather than going for JEE MAINS, the student can directly apply for UPSEE which is a state-level engineering entrance exam for Uttar Pradesh. If the student attaining the domicile of the state applies for state-level entrance tests such as MHT CET, KEAM, etc., the student will be eligible for the benefits of reservation policies.

There are some of the entrance exams which are conducted by private universities for admission into B.Tech programs. These private colleges also include Private Engineering colleges with best placements in India. For instance, a student wants to get admission into LPU for Mechanical Engineering, then he/she must apply for LPUNEST conducted by the university for its admissions. On the positive part, students can also go for university/college level entrance exams based on their national level exam score. For instance, if a student wants to get admission in Symbiosis Institute Engineering program, along with SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test), he/she can also apply for admission on the basis of JEE MAINS score.

BITSAT is also one of the most popular college-level engineering entrance exams which are cleared to get admissions into BITs campuses in Goa, Pilani, and Hyderabad. So, if any student wants to pursue Engineering in Computer Science from BITS Pilani, he/she must apply for BITSAT to get admission.
