NUJS Kolkata Admission 2024: What are Freeze, Float and Exit options in CLAT Counselling 2024?

The Consortium of NLUs releases NUJS Kolkata seat allotment in a round-wise format. The seat allotment results are affected by several factors, including a candidate’s CLAT rank, his/ her reservation category, and choice-filling by the candidate. Therefore, choice-filling becomes an important component of the seat allotment process. While filling out the choice of institute, there are three options available to candidates - freeze, float, and exit.

Freeze: Choosing the freeze option comes into play if you are allocated a seat at NUJS Kolkata and you are happy with the allocation. The freeze option provides a sense of certainty to students that they have secured a seat at the institute. By choosing freeze, candidates eliminate the chance of securing a seat at another institute in the next round.

Float: The float option ensures that a student keeps his/ her possibility to get a better institute in the next round of CLAT counselling while accepting a seat at NUJS Kolkata. In other words, it offers you the possibility of a better NLU along with a backup seat. The only drawback of this option is that if you get a better seat in the next round, you must relinquish the previous one. You will also not get any refund on the confirmation fee paid previously.

Exit: The exit option simply means you are willing to exit from the CLAT counselling process. As a result of choosing the exit option, your candidature for NUJS Kolkata admission will be cancelled. This option is only useful to you if you have changed your mind regarding pursuing law as a career or looking to get into another institute other than the NLUs.
