IIT Madras Admission 2024 - Dates, Form, Online Process, Fees

IIT Madras admission 2024 has begun for engineering and management programmes. For BTech admission, applicants need to qualify for JEE Advanced by clearing JEE Main. The result of JEE Main 2024 session 1 will be announced on February 12 while session 2 registration has started and will close on March 2. Candidates who will qualify JEE Main need to sit for JEE Advanced for BTech admissions at IIT Madras. JEE Advanced registration window will be open from April 21 to April 30, whereas the exam will be held on May 26. Once the JEE Advanced results are announced, JoSAA counselling will be held for IIT Madras admission to the BTech courses.  

Candidates, for IITM admission in its B.Tech and dual degree programmes, need to make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria set for the courses. Once the eligibility criteria are met, candidates need to apply, appear and qualify for the JEE Main 2024. Once the JEE Main 2024 results are out, a merit list will be prepared to shortlist candidates for JEE Advanced 2024.

• As per the notification released by JEE Advanced 2024 official website, candidates should be within the rank of  2,50,000 in the JEE Main 2024 to get selected for appearing in the JEE Advanced.
• Candidates then need to visit the JEE Advanced 2024 registration portal to register for the exam. The exam will be conducted under the guidance of Joint Admission Board 2024. Foreign nationals and OCI/PIO candidates can directly apply for JEE Advanced 2024.
• Candidates, in general, need to have the following documents at the time of registration: Class 10 certificate if the date of birth is mentioned in it or a birth certificate, Class 12 (or equivalent examination) certificate, mark sheet of Class 12 (or equivalent examination) for 2024, and gazette notification showing the change of name, in case, the name has been changed.
• Candidates after registering need to pay the registration fee of Rs 2,900 for general applicants and Rs 1,450 for all other categories. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Once the registration fee is paid, the candidate can download the admit card from the JEE Advanced 2024 online registration portal. During the exam, candidates must bring with them the downloaded admit card along with an original photo ID.
• Once the results are out, a rank list will be prepared. Candidates must meet the IIT Madras cut off 2024 for JEE Advanced to get their name on the rank list.
• Shortlisted candidates will be then called in for JoSAA counselling, where they need to select IIT Madras as their preferred institute. 
• After the counselling is done, candidates need to visit IIT Madras to get their documents verified and pay the admission fee.

IIT Madras Registration Fee 2024 - JEE Advanced 

• For IIT Madras admission to MA and M.Tech programme, candidates need to qualify the GATE exam. 
• First and foremost, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set for the courses. Then, candidates need to register for GATE. Candidates who are willing to take IITM MA admission through GATE need to register for subjects in Humanities and Social Sciences (XH paper code) through gate.iitk.ac.in.
• Candidates who have qualified GATE 2021/GATE 2022/GATE 2024 will be eligible to proceed with the next step in the IITM admission process.
• After the GATE results are out, candidates will be shortlisted for counselling based on the rank list. Candidates must meet the GATE cut off 2024 to get their name on the rank-list.
• Shortlisted candidates then need to register themselves at the COAP portal.
• Then candidates need to fill the IIT Madras application form where they need to mention their GATE scores. Candidates also have to enter the COAP registration number when filling up the application for IIT Chennai M.Tech programme 
• Once the application fee is paid, candidates must keep a copy of the filled in application and payment slip.
• Candidates then need to visit the IIT Madras campus, where they need to get their documents verified.
• They must bring along with them the following documents: PDF file of valid GATE score card, recent passport size photograph, signature, nationality certificate (birth certificate, passport, voter id, transfer certificate), all grade card(s) and SC/ST/EWS/OBC/PwD certificate.
• Candidates then need to pay their IIT Madras admission fee of Rs 23,650 in the case of General/ EWS / OBC candidates and Rs 18,650 in the case of SC/ ST/ PwD candidates.

IIT Madras Application Fee 2024: MA and M.Tech Programme

• For admission into the Indian Institute of Technology Madras M.Sc course, candidates need to apply, appear and qualify the JAM 2024.

• For admission to IITM MBA programme, candidates need to apply, appear and qualify the CAT 2024.
• Candidates must make sure they meet the IITM cut off 2024 for CAT.
• Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of CAT score, past academic performance, work experience, academic diversity and gender.
• Candidates who are shortlisted as per the above composite score will be called-in for personal interview.
• Final shortlisting will be done based on candidate’s performance in the final interview, reflective writing, composite score and other achievements.
• The final shortlisted candidates can then get their documents verified and pay the IITM admission fee. This will mark the end of the IIT Madras MBA admission process.

IIT Madras Admission Process 2024 for EMBA programme

• Candidates must first and foremost meet the eligibility criteria set for the courses. Candidates must have a first-class or 60% and above in bachelor’s degree in any discipline and a minimum of three years of work experience.
• Candidates then need to complete the IIT Madras application process.
• To begin with, candidates need to fill in the IITM application form and attach the necessary documents.
• Candidates then need to pay the IIT Madras application fee. Candidates must also keep a copy of the filled-in application form and payment slip. This will mark the end of the IIT Chennai application process.
• Candidates will be then shortlisted in physical mode at IIT Madras campus itself based on the information provided,
• After the list of the shortlisted candidates is out, selected candidates then need to get their documents verified and pay the IIT Chennai admission fee.
