Eligibility:

Undergraduate Programmes:

  • Since all of the courses mentioned above are undergraduate courses, you will have to complete 10+2 with at least 60% marks.
  • Admission to all the technical and engineering courses of biotechnology are done on the basis of entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, UPSEE, KCET, etc.
  • For Biotechnology science courses like B.Sc. in Biotechnology, most of the universities take direct admissions on the basis of marks in class 12.

Post-graduate Programmes:

  • Admission to M.Tech and M.Sc. in biotechnology is done on the basis of GATE entrance exam.
  • In order to apply for these courses, you must have secured at least 60% marks in your graduation programme.

Job Opportunities:

Although Biotechnology is an advanced field of science and technology, there is a good scope for jobs after pursuing this field in India. Jobs are available in different departments such as medical, health science, industrial application, animal husbandry, agriculture, environmental biotechnology etc.

After pursuing courses in this field, you will also be eligible for Government entrance exams and jobs provided in this field by the government of India. However, B.Tech and BE graduates get a relatively better salary varying from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000.
