In order to qualify for admission into IITs, NITs, and IIITs through GATE 2022 exam, the applying students need to score the prescribed cutoff marks by the examination board. The higher is the score, the best college a student can get to get admission into the M.Tech program.
However, due to a large number of students appearing for the exam, there might be a probability that some students could not score good marks in the exam, even after a fair preparation. What is a Low Score in GATE 2022?
A lot of students fidget with the thought that how much score in GATE is considered to be a bad score. In the GATE 2022 exam, the total marks of the student are counted on the basis of the written exam and the final interview test. After the exam is conducted, the examination board released a list of cutoff marks for the students. The cutoff is different for different categories of students. Based on the cutoff marks, the students who have acquired equal to or above the cutoff marks get admission into IITs, NITs and IIITs.

Alternate Options for GATE 2022 Low Score Holders
There are some state-level entrance exams where the students who have appeared for the GATE exam get exempted from the written test, irrespective of their score in GATE. The students can get direct admission in the colleges which accept admission to M.Tech through such state level entrance exams. Some of the alternate options which the students can pursue after scoring low in the GATE exam are:
TANCET: It is an entrance test which is conducted by Anna University as Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test. Through the exam, the students can get admission into various M.Tech programs in colleges of Tamil Nadu.
AP PGECET: It is an entrance exam conducted byAndhra University on the behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) for admission into M.Tech programs for Andhra Pradesh.
TUEE: It is an entrance exam conducted by Tezpur University, Assam for admission into M.Tech programs.
VITMEE: Vellore Institute of Technology Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE) is an entrance exam conducted by Vellore Institute of Technologyfor admission into the master’s program.
Karnataka PGCET: Karnataka PGCET is the entrance exam through which the students can get admission to M.Tech into various private and government colleges of Karnataka.
WBUT PGET: It is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal for admission into M.Tech programs.
CUCET: It is a national level exam that is jointly conducted by the ten central universities for M.Tech admissions.
HPCET: It is an entrance exam conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical University for admission into M.Tech programmes for Himachal Pradesh.
KIITEE: It is an entrance exam conducted by KIIT University of Bhubaneshwar for admission into various postgraduate programs.
