Placement Season 2016 has brought in some pleasant changes at IIT Kharagpur. The number of PSUs visiting the campus has gone up, adding up to the charm of the campus placements at IITs. In the first 13 days of the placement at IIT KGP, more than 1000 students have been placed with good offers.

Approximately 175 companies have visited IIT Kharagpur so far and surprisingly, 44 of them belonged from the PSU sector. According to the reports, about 1050 students from IIT-KGP have been recruited so far.
An official from IIT Kharagpur informed that the placements of 2016 have only strengthened the institute’s position as the most employable institute in India. The institute was given the first position in terms of placements by the QS Rankings in 2016.
The number of PSUs visiting the campus and the number of offers made by them have also gone up. Coal India was the largest recruiter among the PSUs this year and had recruited 26 students. Another six PSUs have recruited 18 students.
Placements in other sectors have also been successful. IIT KGP got 24 international offers from prominent companies such as Microsoft, Sprinklr, Oracle and Delta Electronics. The overall number of offers has also gone up at IIT-KGP in 2016.

Chairman of Career Development Centre, Prof Debasis Deb said that there has been close to 20% growth in core jobs offered at the institute in 2016. He further added that Samsung emerged as the highest recruiter, offering 47 jobs including pre-placement ones.
